Sounds like your BD player is having a bit of trouble with de-interlacing. Weird shaped objects can be pretty difficult to de-interlace and only the best of the best can de-interlace just about anything without many problems, even still, no solution is perfect. Even the PS3, powered by Nvidia which is regarded as pretty damn awesome at dvd enhancement, still exhibits occasional difficulty de-interlacing some things. Don't worry about it too much. NTSC was a pretty crappy video solution.
