Excellent movie, I was impressed with the pace and the story. It does play out like Zodiac: event, period of detective work, event, period of detective work, etc....

Good stuff, great replay value for me
I'm actually a person who enjoys "the hunt". If I reserve it, it takes all the fun away. Knowing that it may NOT be there when I go is part of the hunt. I hate when employees at a store ask "can I help you find something?"

Cheetahs don't want it if its already dead...its about the hunt...a little fight is fun.

why has this thread turned into a battle zone? it's a thread for the steelbook release of ZDT the BBY exclusive, yet it's about everything BUT that. why are so many of you so angry.

good lord, can't we have a thread that's not taken over by conflict and infighting?

here's my contribution to the thread, i got the steelbook, it's very, very nice. I hope to watch the movie soon and will post a review of the movie. thanks BBY for a nice steel exclusive.

done & done.

Or maybe because for the last two or three weeks it wasn't available for pre-order because of the 100 bonus point Reward Zone promotion? I used to always pre-order steels (and Viva cases) for in-store pickup, but then Best Buy decided to take away that option until the morning of release, so I normally don't bother any more and just go at opening. For this one, I was going to pre-order just to get the bonus points, but I was just waiting till payday, and then it wasn't available to order, so I missed out on the bonus points. I did place my order the first thing in-store pickup became available and got one, but my point was there are reasons why someone might have missed the pre-order for this particular title.

The pre-order was available for weeks, before the points promotion even started. I too missed out on the points pre-order, but I placed my order as soon as in store pickup became an option. People just didn't realize how rare this would be and they didn't prepare accordingly. I'm sure that most people, who were constantly following this release, got their copy.

The Best Buy SteelBook for The Hurt Locker was only released in the U.S. Other countries received SteelBooks for it later on, but they were different than the U.S. version (and they were G2 unlike the G1 Best Buy version). That's the closest to a prior U.S. exclusive Blu-ray SteelBook that I can think of at the moment.

I also ordered with in-store pickup as soon as it was available. Those who follow these types of exclusive releases at Best Buy with any regularity know that's a must if you weren't able to get a pre-order. Sometimes there are a lot of copies of exclusives, but sometimes - especially with SteelBooks of non-blockbusters - there aren't. It's always better to be safe than sorry if it's a release you really want.

Isn't it interesting that BOTH movies were by the same director? I think thats kinda cool.

Exactly. This wasn't a pre-order for Christine, which sold out in a few hours. Anyone that truly wanted a copy of the ZDT SB, had plenty of time to do so.

That was about the only one that I could think of. I'm sure other regions will get a SB of ZDT, but on the off chance they don't...that would be pretty neat to, finally, boast a country-exclusive steelbook.
The reputation of the BB ZDT SB continues to grow!

Stop playing around and open it. I'm still waiting on your detailed review. Rare or not

No because I was actually waiting for your review. If I open mine it will lose value if I open it. We can't have that.

This is pretty close to my situation... I didn't know about a SB until it wasn't available to order. I don't exactly follow SB's as closely as I used to. (Fiance and I got a house, so budget is tight)... so when I did find out instore pickup or be there at opening were my only options.

If I did have the chance to order, I'd rather have dealt with possible SB damage that some rep effing up picking my order when it really wasn't there... but whatever, I expect to get my copy tonight or tomorrow. Scroll back a few pages for what happened... but, hopefully all will end well.

Screw the value. My opinion is more rare than that steelbook ever will be! So watch it, give me your review, and you'll be given my opinion. Which is one of the rarest things on this planet

I called my local Best Buy though it said there were no copies available on the site. Luckily they have one left and said they'd hold it. I'd suggest possibly calling just to see and ask if they have it.

Yeah, no doubt, it is rare, but that doesn't seem to be manifesting in the secondary market. Here are the sale prices on eBay for the last six new auctions:

$34.95
$36.99
$38.78
$37.00
$34.49
$39.99

If I was a speculator and bought some to sell, I'd be a bit disappointed. I don't think this is going to be the profit maker some said it was.

I don't think you understand how this works. This was just released.

Unless people are literally counting on the profits to pay for food or other necessities, I don't see why making $10 for doing nearly nothing is disappointing. From a margin perspective, it's great.
