I can't see 4k streaming from Netflix when 1080p from them looks like garbage now.

Its not just being able to watch it again and have it available for Rewatch at my whim...Example: What about people like me who are in the middle of a series on Netflix, you know having watched the series for days in my evening time TV viewing only to realize that netflix streaming right for the show ended and the next episodes are no longer available. I've spent my time watching and now can't finish cause Netflix, the section 8 of home video, evicted the other episodes. This has happened to me many times in the past and one reason I no longer subscribe to the service.
As far as day and date downloads from netflix, do you have a link to a exec at netflix indicating such or just speculation on your part?

Well,I have watched jaws at least fifty times. I love re watching shows like twin peaks, life on mars, inbetweeners, this is england etc.. So I rematch films and tv. I know many more people who do this.
My point is, the rewatch value is not restricted to movies for me, maybe you are the same?

By the way, another drinking game to add to the apple thing. 'Most people'. Get ready for hangovers guys

Two APPLEtinis for this girl Steel. Thought it is still kinda early. Hehe

Let remember that "Most People" may not rewatch or buy their movies but $9 billion dollars (sell thru dollars) shows that a heck of a lot of us do.

Given the quality of their 1080p, if we are lucky, maybe their "4k" streams will actually come close to looking like legitimate 720p content!

That is my speculation, and I also do not believe that they are going to change the cost of the digital subscription. As for 4K, I see it coming out on Netflix

In two years you will see Netflix offer 4K.

1080p is 1080p, that is what they are offering. Netflix looks outstanding in my humble opinion when streaming at the highest quality, I could not believe how crystal clear and sharp Adventureland was when I watched Netflix.

Nope, don't own an ipad. IMO, steaming is very dependent on the player being used. Netflix on my ps3 is not great, but my ps3 is much older than the ones offered today, however a more modern up to date streaming device brings out the wonders of 1080p.

nooooooooooo, 1080p is NOT 1080p. they are NOT all created equal. Bitrates makes the difference between good 1080p and bad 1080p otherwise all blu-ray would look equal, same with streaming.

I'm sorry, but 1080p is 1080p. Higher bit rates are a different story, whether the 1080 p is good or bad makes no difference as it is still classified as 1080p

The source of the material is more important than bit rates imo, people get to hung up on bit rates. The player makes a difference too!!!

both source AND bitrates make a HUGE difference, I can make a 3 mpbs file and a 40 mbps file out of the same master and the difference in quality is astounding.... and as for players, I call hogwash. one of my jobs is a hardware reviewer and after reviewing dozens upon dozens of players... 99.999999% of them put out a nearly identical picture in both streaming and blu-ray playback. when you jump to the Oppos and a few speciality ones there's some slight difference, nothing wild.

That makes more sense, but I still give much more importance to the source over all else.

^ without the ‘h’…..

To the point discussed, got to side with the ‘pagemaster’ on this one…as there’s an old saying in the business that goes something like…‘the encryption level for a DCP is equivalent to that used by the Bank of England….so if you can break the encryption of a DCP, you might as well hack the bank!

+1 For a while I was toying with the idea that he's not real, just an AI program that replies in a certain way to certain posts. The odd syntax, logic difficulties and spelling mistakes and name brand dropping got me convinced.

Like this one - I can't imagine a human saying it out loud.

The circles we went around in when I asked how his system was calibrated were a joy.
