Creating the listing early - with no 'add to cart' button until the pre-release date arrives - would make quite a bit of sense from a business standpoint.

Those who are browsing to buy something they heard about in TT's catalog could potentially see numerous other films they would be interested in, and make note of the "Available for Pre-Order on mm/dd/yy" indicator. That would guarantee a return visit to the site on or after that pre-order date, and at that point they could potentially see other titles not yet available to pre-order that would be up by that time. They would then make note of those release dates, which would mean still more sales for TT. ad infinitum

TODAY should be the day for Major Dundee pre-order and I guess At Long Last Love also.

btw: I just looked through all the TT releases, and I didn't realize that they had put out a dvd of Violent Saturday. That film is coming to blu-ray in France from Carlotta in 3 weeks.
TT has a long "apology" on their listing because they could only get 4:3 elements for their dvd, so that's kind of sad considering how amazing this new scope bd will most likely look.
Maybe they could contact Carlotta and try for a redo.

or better yet license Carlotta's bd for a US release since they seemingly already have the rights to the film.

Probably no pre-order of At Long Last Love today. From the Twilight Time facebook page comment section.

because I'd like to have it but i'm not currently able to buy it.

I didn't jump on it because I'm afraid it'll sell out today, or at any point this year. I am fairly confident it'll still be on the site the next time they do an autographed promotion, which a lot of people will wait to buy it then. It is, to me, an essential release. I am a huge fan of Sam Peckinpah, and I try to own every release of his that I can. I see no real reason to wait for this one. Besides, it is indeed limited so I'd rather not risk a few nuts deciding to buy a whole bunch of them out of the blue leaving me out in the dark on this one.

I also had some spare PayPal credit, lol.
