In the exceedingly long previous post on the last page I was talking about the adoption of 4K tvs in the home. That’s dependent upon all programming, not just motion pictures (which will take some time for people to break their conditioning from the traditional *film look*, i.e. 24 fps…maybe a lonnnnng time).

I’m referring to TV shows from news….to dramas…to sit-coms…to SPORTS, for watching on your 4K tv at home. Anyone (not just a *videophile*) can easily appreciate the increased PQ of HFR at further distances away from the screen, than so for increased spatial resolution (4K), I don’t believe that consumers will object to the aesthetics of HFR for those applications, esp. for sports which will probably be its primary driver.

B.T.W., There may be some hope, as it’s good to see you not inciting further nonsense on the *Blu-ray reassurance threads* aka Blu-ray vs streaming thread(s). For that, I offer you an informational reference, given your streaming proclivity and general frugality…http://www.hulu.com/browse/picks/hap...akira-kurosawa

I think you have until midnight to take advantage.

4k has me very excited. But HFR? No thanks. I don't like it

The average folk do know the difference between 35mm and digital cinema, as the cinemas make the effort to distinguish between the two, as consumers do have the perceived idea that when they are walking into a D-cinema that they are seeing a superior product.
4K is a hard sell for typical theater-goers.

’Laser’ should be much easier, as it has a cool connotation and does provide a dramatic increase in the PQ of typical 3D motion pictures. I don’t know where you live but, as they say, ‘Be there or Be square’ if you’re in SoCal as it’s a first for paying customers -

Believe me, you would have given your left nut to have seen some of these guys play displayed in 4K 60fps in the comfort of your home….

This is true. Brian clough is a legend. In my opinion, if he had not suffered a career ending injury, he would of smashed all goal scoring records for the club. Why was he never manager of our club. He loved us apparently.

Penton man, still on a football topic feel free to join us with our score predictor on the premier league forum. I just had the idea of us having a go at predicting the correct scores from every premier league match, just for a bit of fun. Everyone else welcome as well.

On topic: when it comes to selling 4K TVs at home, they don't even have to talk about 4K or programming/lack of programming for them. All they have to do is market them as high-count pixel displays, like Apple markets their "Retina display" stuff. "4 times the pixels of regular 1080p TVs!"

You won't need it.

In addition to only looking 14 years old, Selena Gomez has a butt is almost as flat as Anna Torv's. Of the Spring Breakers cast You'd be happier with Vanessa Hudgens or Rachel Korine.

On topic? It's only a couple of lines mentioning football? Is that what you are referring too?

…and upon reading that, a plethora of marketing executives throughout the world just breathed a sigh of relief and are looking toward their year-end bonuses with giddy anticipation.

Give me a moment to do the on topic/off topic compartmentalization thing.

Hi Penton,

Thanks for the information. I went to the Oblivion website and it didn't mention anything about 4k or Dolby Atmos, do you know of any listings of compatible theaters that are showing 4K DCPs? Or would I have to see it in IMAX to see it in 4k?

Oblivion will get Dolby Atmos and the movie was shot in 4K.

IMAX digital is not 4K, I wouldn't waste my time seeing it in 15/70 either. Just seek out a 4k theatre, that is assuming it will be advertised.

Not to mention IMAX doesn't support Dolby Atmos.

Not a big fan of Atmos anyway, much prefer the IMAX digital system.
