Matrix was made in a 2.40:1 if i'm not mistaken so if you want to see the whole picture, there will be bars on top and bottom, if it's full frame (no bars) then it means we miss bits of the picture on the left and right side, which would be bad

But the black bars on top and bottom cut the picture off. I want the whole movie.

No, if the original picture is in 2.40:1 it means it's very wide, actually wider than wide screen TV's. so how do you fit a wider picture inside a tv that is less wide than the picture ? you have black bars on top and bottom, its not part of the movie hidden, it's just nothing.

if you zoom in the black bars are gone, but then the left and right side are beyond the sides of the tv and you miss them then.

I want to see everything in the picture, so black bars are mandatory, understand ?

Sarcasm? What are you even talking about? Is that some kind of code word or acronym up there?

The only way to fix the black bars issue is that they invent 24/10 (super wide tv's) instead of the current 16/9 tv's.

but then for movies made in the 1.85:1 format, it's on the sides that there would be black bars, LOL

I don't care as long as i don't miss any part of the picture. Gee I remember in the early 1990's when tv's were square and pictures were full frame and you missed a huge chunk of the movie on the left and right sides

OK. So the black bars actualy help add more for seeing the whole picture even though it doesn't fill up the whole 16 X 9 TV.

Someone else had a simular question about the HD TV dimensions not being filled up on all blue disk movies. Thats OK though.

I don't know if you are serious or just joking but i'm replying cause the issue is interesting in my opinion.

the problem is that wide screen tv's are not wide enough, they are only 16/9. Whereas a Cinema screen is 2.40:1 (super wide) so if you want to NOT miss the sides, you must zoom out inside the tv therefore black bars appear on top and bottom, I can't explain it better
