How ironic that "Ha" is on France while everything else involves pointless laughter synonyms to throw the viewer off.
Actually, first thought was that it looked like the Three Stooges' world map from "You Nazty Spy", but Sony already owned those.
("We'll pass through Hot-Sea and Tot-Sea, to the Bay of Rum.")

Instead, 'll just assume it's one of those snooty Criterion movies I haven't seen yet.

Definitely. I Netflixed this a couple of years ago and immediately order the Criterion afterwards. Amazing film. Like I said in a post months back - that final act? Better than any thriller out there. WOW! Edge of your seat.

Magnolia should be releasing that one.

This question is prompted by but not directed specifically at Frances Ha...

Does anybody else reflexively groan even a little at the thought of yet another film about New York and/or New Yorkers?

Don't get me wrong, obviously New York is a central figure/location/entity not only in the US but in the world and is a completely legitimate film character. But for as much as I love things like Burt Lancaster's 'I love this dirty town' speech in Sweet Smell of Success I've also developed a bit of an 'ugh, enough already' reaction that seems to get a little stronger every year.

I have no problem with the setting just as long as the portrayal of the city is interesting. I hate how countless rom coms like Friends with Benefits and Morning Glory exploit the city as they present it as a "fluffy", bright and bouncy place.

I would make a pitch for an Atlanta movie on Criterion, but all we have to offer from our neck of the woods is Gone with the Wind (1939), Sharky's Machine (1981), Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Drumline (2002), and ATL (2006). Of course, there's always Deliverance, which was filmed in Clayton, Georgia, where I worked during my first year out of college (I met the doctor from the end of the film, because he is an actual doctor in that county, and I also saw the banjo kid, who still lives there after all these years, at a Subway in town.).

I would actually be thrilled if Sharky's Machine were to appear in the Criterion Collection. The split second that Sharky's Machine appears on Blu-ray in any form or fashion, I'm there. This seems more like Twilight Time fare, thinking about it now.

You're forgetting the greatest movie of all time: this Is Spinal Tap. That was partially shot in Atlanta.

I have not been to a movie theater since December. If Malick's To the Wonder shows up at a theater around here, I'm going to fork out to see it on the big screen. Terrence Malick deserves no less. Olga Kurylenko deserves no less.

My theaters never get magnolia releases, so I guess I'm gonna have to rent it on Demand. Lets see how many viewings I can cram into a 24 hour period

I'm sorry, but when has Olga ever given a notable performance? You might as well have said Ben Affleck or Rachel McAdams.

Quantum of Solace, The Assassin Next Door, The Ring Finger, Paris, Je T'aime, Centurion, Land of Oblivion, There Be Dragons. She was also the best thing about Hitman, a fun flick in my collection. Soon, she will be in Oblivion, with Tom Cruise.

Perfect! Midtown Art Cinemas is my favorite place in Atlanta to catch a movie. Old-school theater seating, instead of stadium seating, so that I don't have to look at cell phones. Cool crowds, because people generally go to that theater just to watch movies and behave. I'm there.

Oblivion also comes out in theaters that weekend, so it looks as though I'll have an Olga Kurylenko double-feature.

I must be talking to fanboy #1. Of those, I've only seen Quatum of Sausage, which to be fair was not noteworthy in the least, and Paris Je T'aime.

Is she just radiant to look at or is does she really show her range in those genre flicks?

Radiant to look at = 63%
Showing her acting range = 37%
Give or take a few percentage points either way.

In all seriousness, she does show a lot of range and versatility in her European films (The Ring Finger, The Assassin Next Door, etc.). Here on these shores, she mostly gets supporting roles (Seven Psychopaths, Max Payne, etc.), but she's more prominent overseas. It looks at though her star is on the rise here, and that's great for everybody.

A lot of people hate on Quantum of Solace, but I love it as a Bond film. The action scene editing could have been much better, but it's an otherwise fine Bond entry.
