I recommend Le Cercle Rouge too. But that's just the film I like the most - in terms of value and pricing it might make sense to get Last Year.

Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (I wish was on BLU!) This film is never ever boring even for it's running time of 201 mins. I could never get sick of watching this film. Many have made shorter films that may have tried other styles bright colors etc to catch the eyes attention and always come across dull and downright amatuerish. Jeanne Dielman is Chantel Akerman's masterpiece IMO. The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie Who Are You, Polly Maggoo? (Part of the eclipse William Klein Set.) Daughters of Darkness She is magnificent in this film. Great atmosphere also. |

I have 5 of the 6, but I placed an order for Mafioso through an Amazon seller. They seemed to have a good rating but when I google searched them, it said that they have a tendency to cancel orders which worries me.
EDIT: Actually, I just cancelled the other order and re-ordered through MovieMars who I know are good vendors. Last edited by jrsl76; 03-29-2013 at 07:06 PM. |

Me, I used to listen to any audiobook on the iPod, but would be out fifteen minutes later and would wake up to find my iPod out of battery. Now, I just turn on the local NPR station, and (here's the secret) leave the volume just out of range enough that I can hear the drone of music or conversation without concentrating on the words. If that doesn't work, another good way would be to put on Last Year at Marienbad. If that organ music and that dull, dreary recitation doesn't knock you out, see your doctor. ![]() |

I actually haven't been able to fall asleep without listening to music for many, many years. Like, this goes all the way back to high school. Back then, I had to contend with my clunky portable CD player. In college, an iPod Mini. For the last few years, an iPod Nano. Ahhh, now that's the stuff. Much easier to handle in bed! Problem is, wearing headphones every night will ultimately render them useless after about a year, sometimes less. I thrash around in my sleep apparently (one of these days I need to set up a camera with night vision in my room), which makes it worse. Oh, well. Ahem. Anyway, yes, I saw Nobody Knows on Netflix Instant and if you had told me a film with this subject matter, starring children, and shot in this way, would enthrall me, I'd have laughed right in your face like the hammy villains in my avatar. But I absolutely loved it and subsequently hunted down other Koreeda (or is it Kore-eda? I can't find any consensus) films I could find: I Wish (my favorite), Maborosi, After Life, Hana and Still Walking (the only of his films to receive the Region A Blu-ray treatment, and Criterion to boot). Hirokazu Koreeda is now my favorite living film director, along with Ridley Scott (who I wish would start making better movies). It would be nice if I could find Distance and Air Doll, which I still haven't been able to see. Quote:
Quiet, you fool! The less he knows going into it, the better! (And yes, it is based on a real life case.) Last edited by metaridley; 03-29-2013 at 07:19 PM. |

Blu-ray Samurai

Back when the first big batch of Studio Canal films went OOP (due to their deal with Lionsgate along with their desire at the time to have a similar line of releases), it was a given that eventually, the remaining Studio Canal films would go OOP once the rights expired. Criterion has released Léon Morin since then, along with upgrading Le Cercle Rouge and Army Of Shadows to Blu. What that suggests is that until they approach the end of their licensing window, it's still possible that they will release or upgrade titles they have, meaning it's certainly possible that Le Samouraï could still see a Criterion Blu-Ray release. But I wouldn't count on a very large window... |

Great prices you did very good. Try to get a DVD of Le Doulos if you don't own it already I think it is a great film also Jsut hope maybe S.C. at least fast track it to a BLU release.

I actually chose third party if Amazon had that notice up. If it comes to them having to order more to fulfill orders, that window may now be closed. Better safe than sorry.
