Thanks!

There are plenty of isolated score tracks that present cues that weren't used in the films, or else heavilly truncated (Alien and The Omen come to mind), so a completely rejected score is possible. The Blu of The Getaway has an isolated track of Jerry Fielding's unused music.
The original score was never released, no? So this would be the first?

Surprised this has such a limited release. I thought this was one of the more memorable romantic comedies of the last couple of decades and certainly is leaps above You Got Mail.

I seriously don't get it... why Twilight Time?

Sleepless In Seattle was a HUGE box office hit when it came out

And anyways... if you guys stop supporting Twilight Time, maybe they will go away. One company I wouldn't mind seeing go under considering what a ripoff they are selling the equivilent of $5 bargain bin releases for $35. Criterion they ain't.

Making it up?

Sleepless In Seattle was a very popular and successful movie in 1993. Okay, maybe not Jurassic Park big but still the #5 box office hit of that year when all was said and done.

And no, sorry I am not going to mark for a company that sells movies you can get next to nothing on DVD for Criterion prices.

I understand movies like Christine and Fright Night that have a loyal cult fanbase who will pay $35 for a limited edition.... movies like Steel Magnolias, As Good As It Gets, Philadelphia and Sleepless In Seattle are not "cult" movies with uber-geek fans... they were all very successful mainstream movies that don't belong to a certain niche, but belong to pretty much everyone. Its a mistake to limit these sorts of movies that don't necessarily appeal to "fanboys" who will pay top dollar to 3000 copies when those movies all have the appeal and success to merit a widespread release. These are movies you buy at Wal-Mart and Target on the spur of the moment because you have some excess money, they are not cult geek titles that only have a few thousand fans who will pay top dollar to own. These are movies you buy for your girlfriend/wife/mother as a gift, not movies that normally draw in the uber-fanboys.

I am just thankful that Sony released A League Of Their Own and are going to release Funny Girl themselves instead of wasting them off to Twilight Time.

Sorry, I refuse to be a mark. Criterion and Shout/Scream Factory do a far better and adequate service of the same thing that TT does.

I'm surprised Sony didn't think they could make more profit by releasing Sleepless in Seattle and Philadelphia themselves, without the 3000 unit limit.

Yep, especially since they just released A League Of Their Own themselves, which made more than Philadelphia but less than Sleepless at the box office.

To be happy, if that was the tradeoff, I'm okay with it... ALOTO was the only one of the three early 90's Sony Hanks movies I *really* wanted to own, but admittedly Sleepless is something I would've maybe had picked up during Upgrade And Save or something.

Just glad they did Funny Girl right... and I really hope they do the same for Tootsie (I know it's coming out in Germany but am going to wait for region-free confirmation first)

Since you missed my point entirely, I'm pointing out the fact that you're looking for a reason why Sony is shifting titles to TT, while at the same time making the point to say this "HUGE box office hit" should be in the $5 bargain bin. Just think about those two things, let it sink in, and then ask yourself the question again. If people like you aren't going to buy it unless it hits bargain bin prices, then can you really blame Sony for wanting guaranteed money upfront? Hell, under this model they get paid now, and in 3 years they could re-release it if they wanted to.

Blaming TT for this is just comical. What do they have to do with this decision by Sony again? Would you turn down Sleepless in Seattle if it was offered to you?
.

I can't worry about things that I can't control. When I first had to deal with TT, my biggest issue was that they were "known" for not keeping the special features. For the prices they charge, we should AT LEAST get those.

Then Christine comes out with the special features and now I'm looking at Philadelphia an Sleepless in Seattle. Nothing I can do about the price, but I sure hope they continue porting over the special features. I hate making combos, because I find myself too lazy to put in the dvd just to watch features every now and then.
