BIG mistake in I Am Legend - Blu-ray Forum

Don't know if this has been brought up or not (i did a search, didn't find) but in the film Robert Neville watches DVDs NOT Blu Rays.

It's the year 2010...Blu Ray should be the dominant force

This flub ruined the movie for me.

Yeah, it was disappointing not to see a Blu-ray player with that flat-screen. On the other hand, if they wanted to show HDM in the movie, they would've had to go with HD-DVD so they could play Shrek. In that case you could consider HDM's exclusion a good thing.

How is this an error? The movie does take place in 2010, but no new technology has prevailed in the story since 2007. So how could he get a Blu-Ray Player when they are unavailable? Duh.

Maybe the rental store where he keeps "borrowing" the movies from doesn't carry Blu-rays? It's not a chain, after all.

Either that, or Shrek is available on Blu-ray in 2009, since I doubt they kept producing Blu-rays after the epidemic.

I agree. I'm sure you also noticed that in I Robot, Will Smith (Detective Spoonme, oops! I mean Spooner) has a love for all things retro like his DVDs, Converse sneakers and a gasoline-powered motorcycle. He even manually drives his car in a world in which cars drive themselves. And he doesn't trust robots. This flick takes place decades in the future.

I must commend actor Will Smith for doing Sci-Fi movies as well (Men in Black 1 and 2, Independence Day, I Robot, I Am Legend and the forthcoming Hancock).

Maybe on 2009 Blu-ray lost to DVD

Should have been a BDP-S1 connected to a Bravia LCD, and the streets littered with Vaio laptops and Ericsson cell phones. That's never been done before in a movie. While they're at it, Warner should have stuck in a Richard Branson cameo somewhere.

there was a real mess up in this that i noticed. when he's first watching Shrek, it's towards the middle or end, but when he starts reciting the words it's in the beginning.

I don't think this is an error. The film is so short, the kid probably watched it from the beginning again.

I'm pretty sure the scene he is reciting is towards the end. It's after Fiona goes off with Farquad and he goes back home, before deciding to go rescue her.

no, i think it's from closer to the beginning. when he first met donkey.

but i could be wrong. i haven't seen Shrek in a long time. haha

but i just thought it was weird cause the first time you hear it playing it's the part where shrek and donkey are arguing, then he's reciting when they first met(i think).

Not DVD or blu related, but my favorite part was Van Gogh's Starry Night over the fireplace, and other famous art from the Met just laying around the house. I thought that was a nice touch.

I think the year was actually 2012, it was 2009 when the infection hit.

Its towards the beginning when he first met donkey... "Your talking to me?"

Besides, the kid probably started it over since he was eating breakfast when it was playing earlier.

The news crawl at the beginning of the film talks about how the DOW closes 2009 (when they are talking about the cure for Cancer).
