Default best buy moves hd dvd away from movie section

well at one of my best buys, all hd dvd software has been moved to the front of the store into an organized bin (a 6 by 6 foot square of shelves with a bin under it)....a huge 30 percent off sign is above it that says they must go.

none of my other best buys have done this, has anyone else seen this?

oh and this best buy also has a complete shelving length filled with blu, and they have doubled their number of instore titles, carrying ones only online previous

They are desperate to sell them before next week. Because at the last week of March they will disappear from best buy locations. Don't expect a bigger sale.
I work there and have seen the memo.

Ok since you work at bestbuy and we arent at bestbuy right now i have a question.....

If buying a ps3...do you recommend getting a extended warranty or not
And 40 or 80 gig

I got mine with a warranty. And supposedly you can renew it just before the 2 years are up. Though I'm not a customer service person, so I'm not 100% sure.

But to answer your question, yes. Many electronics falter after time. If it does within your warranty period, you'll get a free replacement PS3 for the same value you paid for. I bought a 60gb PS3 @$500, and can get a 80gb PS3 with MGS4 if my PS3 dies (when that pack comes out).

Default HD DVD is gone

The Best Buy near me got rid of all there HD DVD's.I notise the section where they use to be are now filled with TV show DVD's. And the TV where they use to have an HD DVD player hooked to on display is now gone and been replaced with a Samsung Blu-Ray player. Way to go Best Buy!

Just went to my best buy...they moved the blu-ray section closer to the front of the store, and it's at least 2 times bigger. HD-DVD section is starting to look bare, and all titles are marked 30% off.

i worked at circuit city (*cough* its a service agreement not a extended warranty lol)

i didn't get one on my ps3, heres why

#1 sony is pretty good about their manuf warranty. my ps2 had problems so i sent it to sony. they repaired it, sent it back, and actually called me at home and asked what ps2 game i would like for free to cover the inconvenience.

#2 if you dont get the 'extended warranty' they will send you offers in the mail to buy one for the rest of your life, about once every 2 months. For my tv, they even send me ones for a 1 year agreement for $109. So if my TV breaks i'll just buy that, THEN contact them saying it broken.

Retail stores make almost no money on the TV's now. They have to sell you a cable, installation, service agreement, or some other accessory like a stand for them to make ANY profit. so be warned a good employee will push those hard.

My BB has done this as well. HD-DVDs at the front of the store at 30% off, and the Blu section has expanded and taken over where the HD-DVDs used to be.

for the ps3...meh..it would be a good idea...I've seen some come back due to failures...for 49.99 it may be in your interest to save yourself at 400 loss if problems happen
for a 360 on the other hand...you'd be a moron not to get one

as for the hddvd's....all best buys should have them at 30% off if they still have them in stores....its a company wide policy...but all the other stores should be pulling their remaining hddvds the last week in march...although select stores will wait till the following week as many have PI (Product Inventory) the following weekend and all product pulls are held till after the fact.

Our store here has had HD DVD movies on sale at 30% off for the last 3-4 weeks but no signs saying they must go. I just took back 10 unopened HD DVD's that were anywhere from 2-6 months old and they actually gave me store credit! Now I can pick up more BD's, I couldn't believe they would take them at all so any current purple folks looking to recoup some of there costs should give it a try.

That doesn't make any sense.

Also, 30% off isn't a deal. That's why they're not selling. I was b1g1'n HD DVDs after WB made the switch, but before Toshiba made the announcement. 30% off is nothing special.
