It's funny that 7 of my top 10 have the same 3 directors

In order

Die Hard
Predator
Aliens
True Lies
Raider of the Lost Ark
The Adventures of Tintin
The Long Kiss Goodnight
The Matrix
T2
The Killer/Hard Boiled

I also wanna give strong consideration to Who Am I with Jackie Chan.

I'm surprised Lethal Weapon 2 didn't make it my top 10

All of the James Bond movies, of course. Raiders of the Lost Ark is more of a "nonstop" action flick, though. The first Die Hard film also fits the bill quite well.

When I think action movie I don't really include Superhero movies, though many of late are good movies with good action. I think guns and killing.

For me Lethal Weapon 2 is one of the quintessential action movies of all time. It nails the action, the drama and the comedy. And I loved Mel Gibson and Danny Glover together.

Other action movies I like that haven't been mentioned:
Last Boy Scout
Die Hard 2
Predator 2 The Untouchables
The Last Crusade
Taken
Mission Impossible 3
Predators
Robocop
Tango & Cash (a good bad movie)

Have to go with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Perhaps never to be equaled as a
pure action hero.

In recent memory, The Raid is probably one of the finest action films made, taking a genre that had gathered a whole mess around it, taking away all the convoluted complications and cliches and just focusing on the barebones of it all, what really matters, the action.

But Die Hard will never be beaten, and it doesn't come close to the likes of Terminator 2, Aliens, Robocop, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Predator, The Matrix, First Blood.

I guess Skyfall could go up for nomination as well, for taking Bond in a new direction while giving everything you could possibly want from a Bond film and then some.

Too many great movies to choose from. No way I could pick a #1 of all time.
