Default How do you remove folders from the PS3 game directory?

Hi guys, my sister has been using my PS3 for the last few weeks to play Final Fantasy but the other day when I went to download a demo I noticed she'd moved all my demos and downloaded games into different folders without asking.

I know you can un-sort them with the SQUARE button but I'd like to remove the folders and place them back in their original order. Is there a way to do this? And is it possible to sort them by name? I can't find that option.

Also before she started using the PS3 I had over a hundred demos on the HDD now there's 36, so I'm not sure where they've gone! It's possible I deleted them myself but I'm sure there were more than a 100 and not just 36!

Select the folder, press triangle to bring up the options, select information and then change the folder name to whatever you want it to be. Edit: Sorry, just noticed that you didn't ask how to rename the folders so my answer doesn't help. It'll be a pain if you have to go through each one changing the name of the folder the game/demo is associated with.

Thanks for you reply anyway.

A better question to ask yourself is : why are you keeping 100 demos around?

A more practical answer, though, unless something has changed, is that doing a database restore on the PS3 will wipe out all the folder identifiers on all items in the PS3 menu. Will take time, but is a lot less tedious than renaming the category folder identifier for every item in your list.

Thanks for that. It looks like it will do exactly what I want it to do.

The demos have built up over time and I often keep them until I buy the full version. I think played Just Cause 2 more as a demo than a full game (and I finished the game!).

Call up the game or demo, press the triangle and select "edit", type in the name of the folder that you want it to go into (if the folder name doesn't already exist it will automatically create one with that name). The folders will be in alphabetical order on your screen but I don't think there is a way to make everything INSIDE the folders to be in alphabetical order. If I wrong about this someone please let me know.

Thanks for the information. There doesn't seem to be a way to A-Z titles, just folders like you said. Removing the folders seems a bit complicated as well, well complicated compared to the average PC.
