I was going to say, hope it's Sony as they will update via firmware as its their baby

Hmmm. xv colour is mentioned in the spec for the current raft of Sx90 machines, but there's literally nothing in the manuals about utilising it, just a copyright notice for the xv brand. The spec for the new x100 models doesn't even mention it, they keep waffling on about triluminos instead.

Normally, a development like this would make me nervous because I spent a small fortune building up my DVD collection over the years then Blu-ray comes along and upstages everything (for good, mostly). But something tells me I won't have to worry this time. Thanks, but, No, I don't want to see Adam Sandler in 4K. I'm only interested in deep catalog titles and studios currently aren't interested in that market.

if AQ don't match PQ what's the point anyway jus another way to get more $$$$$

so Sony wants us to buy these movies but no tv's to fully take advantage of 4K yeah ok, get right on it....

true, but regarding 'Ghostbusters' the current bluray had huge room for improvement in the PQ department.

Expanded Color made me laugh. I guess, where applicable, it's director approved.

4k does offer superior and more accurate colour space, it's actually a big key selling points of the technology, hence why it is listed on the cover.

Why? blu-ray does not fully replicate the colour range of film, nor high end digital.
This will be miles closer if done right.

The PS3 supports it and that is from 2006, lots can be added via firmware

I can just imagine the precious dimwits in big box retailers attempting to explain the differences between this and previous Blu-ray releases of Spider-Man or Ghostbusters.

Especially when these aren't 4K themselves. They simply come from 4K masters, which many current Blu-ray's already do but don't dress it up and announce it like this.

but are in fact 35mm and have a higher 'resolution' - if done right, a new 4K scan can reveal more color, clarity than obviously a 2K scan can't replicate.

'Expanded color' is asterisks, I presume the footnote is on the back. As mentioned could it be x v colour (xvYCC)? But the chain of equipment must all support it.

My equipment, quite accidentally I assure you, can all support this. So I'm actually kind of looking forward to checking these out, ha.

I may be in for Ghostbusters after reading reviews. Hopefully Labyrinth will also get 4K treatment. Like others have mentioned, hopefully this won't be simply Superbit 2.0 and an excuse for Sony to be lazy with barebone releases that yield an extremely small improvement.
