Criterion is listed as owning Blu-ray rights on the movie on IMDB if that means anything to you (They don't list "blu-ray" for every film already in the collection).

Additionally, IMDB listed Criterion for owning Blu-ray rights on Certified Copy well ahead of it's announcement.

Stray Dog and The Bad Sleep Well would probably interest you. They are on DVD only.

Never seen it but looking forward to it. Isn't this one you were recommending and hoping for a blu-ray release?

Thanks. Stray Dog looks promising. I have seen The Bad Sleep Well already.

One I was recommending, yes because of the filmmaker Teinosuke Kinugasa, who I think has better films hoping to see a release down the line. I'm happy there is a blu-ray release of one of his films but hoping A Page of Madness and/or Crossroads gets one as well. This one though is one of the most colorful films you will see.

I liked your High and Low review. I did not read the other two because I have not seen the movies.

I highly recommend Ikiru. It is equivalent to a Kenji Mizoguchi film. Another great non samurai Kurosawa film is Dersu Uzala , fantastic film and it is underrated in my opinion (no one really talks about). Maybe it is overshadowed by Ran and Kagemusha.

Pulled the trigger on Le Cercle Rouge, even though the trailer did nothing for me. Here's hoping for the best! (And it does have many positive reviews, just, the trailer kinda threw me off)

Finally getting around to Killer's Kiss. This along with Fear and Desire are the only Kubrick films I haven't seen.

Thanks. I'll have to check out those too.

A part of me actually enjoyed Killer's Kiss more than The Killing.

Hey guys, can you please say what are the other Criterion Blus that Studio Canal has the rights to? I see Belle de jour, Breathless, La Haine, Senso. Any others?
Just found out about Melville films and Marienbad going OOP so had to buy for what prices are available (hope that ON ORDER status on DVDEmpire does mean they'll eventually ship it). Want to be prepared for the next batch.

I don't think those titles would be in print if StudioCanal had the US rights to them. It was only recently that they bought the rights to the Melville titles.

This month ended up being a really expensive one. Ordered 4 Criterion's:

-Le Doulos
-High and Low
-Badlands
-Letter Never Sent

Badlands is the only blind buy. It's my second Malick film after Days of Heaven, which was kinda like a lukewarm experience for me. I respect the film for its stunning cinematography, but I also feel the story could've gone further. Still, I'm looking forward seeing Badlands as it's received so many praises.

Mansinthe, thanks!

Yami, OK, I meant the titles Studio Canal will eventually have the US rights to. That still means they're going OOP sooner or later.

Because of your recommendation, Gate of Hell, along with Wild Strawberries, Ivan's Childhood, and potentially Oz the Great and Powerful (yes, I know, the odd one out), will be the titles me mam's going to pick up at B&N in June when she and da go on vacation. I missed the cheap preorder window, which, while sad, was actually a blessing in disguise, since I'm now moving into a new place, and in another few months, I'm getting a new car, and a new box spring and mattress.

Agree on Pale Flower, it is a gfantastic film. I ended it grabbing it at the Portsmouth B&N on a trip to NH in 2011, along with Kagemusha. I wasn't going to buy it, but the copy of Harakiri they had was smashed up (ended up buying that in Augusta). I think with all the talk about it, I may go watch it again.

I didn't care for Pale Flower. The Japanese new wave sort of grates on my nerves. It was exceptionally made, though, with great camerawork and cinematography.

We went to a parade this morning and it started with little boys blowing Conch shells. Reminded me of a certain Criterion title.
