DO you realize that from 480 to 1080 had many more vailable color combos visible AND if 4k is done right and not an overly compressed mess, it will have more colors available, but not these releases

I'll probably end up re-buying Glory if it ends up with a Better transfer.

These 4K releases are the new "HD-Ready" under the Blu-rays. I will wait for the first comparisons.

I know, but I'll still be replacing the cover art with my own just like I did with that cover.

I think that is the one you will get the least from due to the colour that the Red camera captures, they all have the same look to them, I may be wrong but I think the 35mm stuff is the way to go.

Really? I had no idea It's the ugly blue & yellow banners at the top & bottom that I don't like...

Is expanded color even part of the Blu-ray spec?

From what I have read, it isn't, but HDMI 1.3 and above does support it, thus can be used with compatible kit.

Also part of the original poster art. We all thought it was super weird all these years, but it finally kind of makes sense.

So does this mean that these new 4K releases won't work on reguar HDTV? Will I need to get a 4K HDTV just to play them?

They're normal Blurays, identical in every way. Except that they come from a 4k scan of the master. They'll play just the same as every other Bluray and likely, look the same. The picture should look a little better, assuming they do a proper encode and use a good quality master. But, you'll still be viewing in 1080p.

I think this will be the first time Sony rolls out a new product without "The Big Hit" as one of it's flagship titles.

How much better can Taxi Driver or Glory really look? Those discs are top notch, will there be any benefit for someone with an old 1080p/60hz set-up?

Isn't the current Taxi Driver disc based off of a new 4K restoration?
