United Kingdom Australian imports worth owning?

Currently looking at American Psycho and Me Myself and Irene.

Are there any probs with aussie releases? Region B isn't it? I assume customs will be expensive so maybe look for some EU alternatives?

I have never had a customs charge from an Australian order. It might be possible but I'd say it's rare.

Yes. They are obscenely expensive, in the same way Japanese Blu-rays/DVDs tend to be obscenely expensive.

Depends where you look

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Running-Ma...00879973026%26

Australian releases of The Descent, Season of the Witch, Immortals and Face Off are uncut.

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is the best Region B transfer of this release and Young Frankenstein is the same transfer as the region locked US release.

I'm pretty sure the Spanish American Psycho BD is the same as the Australian. Just get that.

I think Scoop and Match Point are two Australian exclusives. There's also Unfaithful, which is released in the US, but is region A locked.

American Psycho is under £14 delivered from Devoteddvd, so it's cheaper than the Spanish release.

You can get Dick Tracy cheaper than the US release, plus it has no UK release.

All in it was £13.88 via paypal.

I have the Australian version of American Psycho - it's fantastic. The PQ is great and the AQ is far beyond what you'd expect for a film like that. Highly recommended.

Also, Australian releases are not that expensive. I've bought a few from JB HiFi, all reasonable (American Psycho was about £9 delivered at the time). Certainly not up there with Japanese releases, not in my experience anyway.

+1 on American Psycho, looks superb!
For any David Lynch fans, the various available prints of Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me are the same but the Australian release is the only release available with subtitles for the noisy club/bar scene.

Catalogue titles appear to be reasonably priced, but new releases are laughable, as are anything 'niche', like anime, etc. It's not helped by the sharp increase in postage, over the last year or so.

Great price! I think I paid about £17 from the excellent DVDCrave a few years back, but unfortunately, they're no more. Devoteddvd are pretty good though. I ordered The Ring recently from them and it took about 8 working days to get here.

The Leopard (Il Gattopardo).

Also the best English friendly version of Godard's Histoire(s) du cinéma is the Australian dvd.

Is the UK release of The Descent cut? That's the one I've got and thought it was great. Which is the best release for The Descent?

No, it's not cut. If you have the UK release, you're golden. More extras than the Australian release, plus the same transfer.
