Default The Walking Dead #1 & 2 What Should I Do With Them?

I was recently going through my boxes and boxes of comics. I fell out of collecting single issues so I have been selling things on eBay. I totally forgot I had them but I've got first printings of The Walking Dead #1-20 bagged and boarded in excellent condition, I probably just read them once a decade ago when I bought them and they have been bagged, boarded, and boxed ever since. I see that The Walking Dead is going for crazy money right now. Is this something I should get graded? I have never done it before so I don't really know the process but I was wondering what peoples opinions of this are. Thanks.

Have you seen the episode of AMC's Comic Book Men? I watched the scene where some guy had the first print of issue #1 and he was asking for something maybe $1,000 (I don't recall ) to sell the 1st issue, but anyway. The store, and the seller negotiated for a fair price but the seller declined the store's offer at the end since there were some wrinkles on the front cover.

While I certainly could try and get on Comic Book Men, that store is about 20 minutes from me, I want to get the most out of them and selling them to a store will mean I get less since they'll have to sell them for a profit.

If you plan on reselling, it might be a wise investment to get them graded.

After that, eBay is the way to go. I wouldnt try selling to any online shop as it'd be a risk to send and get ripped.

Ebay is the best way to go, sell it has a lot collection and you should make out pretty good.

I checked out the grading website. Any tips from people who have done it before? What options are best? I've been selling comic books on eBay fine I've just never dealt with something that seems this valuable.

Professionally graded copies of issue #1 have gone for several thousand. The show is unlikely to get any more popular than it is now, it would be a great time to sell.

Keep in mind that the back log for graded books is 4 months at the minimum. By that time the Season would be over diminishing the price. Sight unseen Id purchase the lot off of you. But I would like to see them LOL

In order to be on Comic Book Men, you have to apply when they are filming the next season. The conversations and transactions on the show are legit, but it makes it easier to get all the good products filmed if the production company knows when you're coming in, especially since they aren't always there. The cameras are only there filming for a few weeks. I can attest to this as I was on episode 2 of the first season.

The easiest way to send something to CGC to get graded is to go through a comic book store. You should be able to find a list through their website of comic shops that are near you that can help out with this. As someone said the wait time is long, I just got back some issues and I sent them away like 5 months ago. You can pay for expedited service though, which I think cuts your wait time in half atleast. I recommend you getting atleast issue #1 graded, depending on the grade you could easily get $300 to $500 more for the book.

I would say you could probably get upwards of $1000.00. OP if you want $300 for issue 1 I will buy it

These guys are waaaay undervaluing it. You could get $1000 for #2 and #3 depending on condition. Graded issue #1s are going for between 7 - 10 thousand on ebay right now. The local comic shop here in Nashville just sold an ungraded #1 for $3500.

There were only 7200 first prints of #1 made. 5300 hundred of #2. You basically struck gold, sir.

They are right though, grade issues 1-3 and sell them on ebay. Sell the rest as a lot on ebay. you'll get the most that way.

umm i dont know what your talking about but a copy of walking dead #1 cgc 9.6 sold on ebay yesterday for $1,300 the only way he sees more then that is if he has mint gem copy, perfect 10.0 then he might see 10k. but he odds of that are extremly slim. the reason mint copies are worth so much is because they are incredibly rare.

#3 sold in 9.4 for $200

you need to remember that just because some dude puts his copy on ebay with a buy it now price of 7k doesnt mean anyone is buying it. if some copimc shop sold a ungraded copy of #1 for 3500 they strait up ripped someone off and i personally wouldnt shop with them.

My local comic shop was selling a copy of issue #1 for $750 and a shop in Austin I was in last year was selling there copy for $900. So I agree $3500 is way overpriced.

You mean to have a comic sent to CGC for grading? If so, its about $40 I believe, maybe a bit more, and it generally takes months to get your book back. If you have any comic book stores in your area, they can also probably help you out if the are a CGC-certified store.
