Seriously doubt it. The BDA nor the studios have said one iota concerning a 4K format being released in less than a month.

That is the date that is listed with those movies being released on that BD format, as shown in the website links that i posted on the first post.

As Hot Sauce posted above these Sony titles are only mastered in 4K. Their resolution will be 1080p like any other BD release. Do you understand now?

"Mastered in 4k" does not mean "encoded in 4k". The resolution on the disk will not be 4k. These disks will be 1080p and will play on any bluray player like any other bluray.

They are mastered in 4K instead of 2K like many films. For example, the present release of Ghostbusters utilized a 2K master that was used for the remastered DVD release from several years ago. The new release of Ghostbusters next month will come from a new 4K master, which is equivalent to the film's native 35mm resolution. Will there more than a marginal difference between it and the original BD release? Probably not.

Okay, But to be more technical what your saying is that, they are mastered in over 4000p instead of over 2000p ? If so, then i would definitely think that there would be more then a marginal difference. Although, that might depend on how good it might look to one persons eyes compared to how good it might look to another persons eyes .

I still think this is a crazy thing to say about a new from-the-negative transfer at 4K. It seems to me that a brand-new scan at twice the resolution with six years of technological advances in between is undoubtedly going to look a lot better than something prepped for DVD and may not be a from-negative transfer, even before the various issues that plague the existing Ghostbusters Blu-Ray.

That is because i found out that the BD's labeled as 'Mastered in 4K', are really just 1080P BD's that are a gimmick.

Perhaps Sean missed all those threads. I’ll see if I can contribute something at least to the last page without having to read everything in between because it’s late and I’m going to bed.
