That's surprising. I would think they'd want to get what they can with the stock they have. Perhaps Best Buy worked out a deal with the distributors to get some money back. Either that or they really wanted to push Blu even harder, which would be great!

I noticed yesterday they had them all at 30% off, but if they remove them that's just more space for blus!

Good riddence, now more room for other goodies like camcorder bags and electronic picture frames.

Did they go back to the studios for redistribution, or go to the dumpster?

Perhaps a few of you recall the IBM PC Jr of the 1980's and that horrid "chicklet" keyboard. Though they replaced it with a better traditional keyboard, I read that tons of the old ones ended up in a big hole in some landfill.

I think Radio Shack sold some of them as parts for a while.

Are you sure that was Mosiac or just some HD DUD fanatics in custom uniforms that go around saying...

"Yeah,.. we're um.. .Mosiac, Yeah,. and uh... we're going take all these HD DUD's ok... this is what's supposed to happen you know all over the nation and stuff."

"All you HD DUDs are belong to us."

Last night I went in and bought four blu-ray titles (Cars, Pursuit of Happiness, Blood Diamond, and The Usual Suspects) and all the shelves with HD-DUDs were still fully stocked. I had just got finished saying to myself when I went in there, why are they still selling these things?

Woo hoo! Hopefully I can make it by BB on the way home to check it out.

Did they fill the extra space with blu-ray or is it just empty (or worse, filled with DVDs)?

I read the article. Ugh, E.T., what an aweful game. We had it. I remember reading an article where the typical Atari game took two years to complete from design concept to programming, E.T. took 6 weeks. They had a special team to work on it night and day to get it out while the ferver was still hot.

While Atari 2600 Pac-man also sucked nard, it did have a redeeming theme and was playable. You just had to stop thinking of the original arcade game to appreciate it.

I stopped by Target last night to check out the Blu-ray section... They are down to 3 HD DVD titles. It's just funny, because they have this "High Definition" plastic column thing that's moving more and more to the right, "wiping away" the HD DVDs.

Personally, I don't care if HD DVD lingers on the shelves. I know what I want to buy, and that's good enough for me. However, I can understand the Blu folks wanting more space for their product, leading to less confusion over High Definition. But, unless you live in a cave, you know HD DVD is gone, with all of the media exposure the format war had.

I been told Circuit City will soon follow Best Buy's removal. At this rate hd dvd will soon be a distant nightmare.

They are going to be melted down to fuel future ignorance with consumer electronics.
