Went to a preview of 'Olympus Has Fallen' last night. Dumb, but fun. A hybrid of 'Die Hard', 'Air Force One' and 'In the Line of Fire', although not as good as any of those. Refreshing to see an action movie that wasn't edited to get an M rating, this one was definitely an MA.

Just back from seeing Oblivion.
It's not terrible, just not memorable at all. I wasn't at all surprised to see it was derived from a graphic novel — it really played like one. Have to agree with melmac: no sense of tension or anything "at risk", no investment by either the hero or the audience, nor sense of pacing. Ah well. |

I'm pretty sure the distributor bottled when it was classified R. Apparently they initially cancelled the theatrical release, but there was a predictable outcry from fans, so now it is getting a limited release. Can't remember which distributor it is, but their FB page was full of decidedly not-flattering comments!

Iron Man 3, loved it. Great action sequences, good humour, interesting villain, loved it on VMax.
The 3D was crap though, as all the 2D sessions at the local Village were Gold Class. The thing that popped out the most was the Paramount logo in the opening. |

I too hated that I was forced to see it in 3D. I really doubt I'll ever really get into it. |

Saw Iron Man 3 yesterday. Absolutely loved it. Had kinda the same feel leaving the cinema as after Avengers. Can't wait for the blu. Pretty much everything was perfect. It was a lot funnier than i was expecting too. The Y2k line was great.
And Ben Kingsley was perfect as the Mandarin (more villains named after fruit please ![]() I liked the post credits bit too. Last edited by Lazlo; 05-01-2013 at 08:25 AM. |

Hah! Just got an invite to a preview session of Tracks next week (a new film based on Robyn Davidson's famous book, directed by John Curran) and inclusion in a focus group afterwards.
Maybe I can be one of those deadheads everyone hates because they made the director change the ending of his film! ![]() |

I think like most cinema going people I saw Iron Man the Christmas Special over the weekend. I enjoyed it but I rarely get to the cinema these days, working 6 days a week and two children under 2 and half means very little extra curricular activities. So I would have enjoyed watching paint dry as well. It was my first time in Vmax and I think all cinemas should be like that. I can't see myself going back to the older style ones now.
Did see the trailer for the new Star Trek and I must say I was underwhelmed. Although I can't put my finger on why. |
