Ill bet its the same disc on both - either both region-locked or both not.

Amazon.es told me if both Amazon.fr and Amazon.es had located the steelbook from the same source then they would have been given the same ASIN. They went to investigate the region information and told me that the listings on both the .fr and .es sites are correct.

"Hello Steven.

I am pleased to greet you and I hope you are well.

Steven, in regards to the information you requested earlier, I was able to confirm that both products are different, since both have different ASIN numbers.

The first ASIN you provide me was B00B5UF5ZE which was for Amazon.fr, then you provided me with the following link:

http://www.amazon.es/Jack-Reacher-Ed...&keywords=jack

The product from this link has the ASIN B00C7MATGY. I can confirm that if these items were purchased from the same stock then they would have the same ASIN.

In regards to the region information. I have investigated this with our specialist team and can confirm that our information regarding this is correct and up to date

Hope that this information is useful.

Thank you for contacting Amazon.es, we hope to see you again.

Un atento saludo,

Alex B.

I stand corrected!

Either way makes no difference to me though as Im UK. So USA buyers need to go with the French one and hope theres no burned in subtitles (which there shouldnt be but Spanish ones never seem to do this from what Ive seen).

Surely the discs will be identical, as will the Steelbooks? I never trust Amazon's information because it's nearly always inaccurate.

What are burned-in subtitles? Can they not be deactivated?

I preordered the French SB

Some (not many) French discs have burned-in French subtitles which you cant remove (Drive is one for example).

This seems to be a French thing as Ive never heard of this with German and Spanish discs for instance. Im sure theres others here who know more about this than me or have found out the hard way!

Subtitles added into the picture, which basically cannot be turned off...

Common with those foreign movies, but i don't think they would enforce subtitles on a English movie... especially when it comes with French audio track...

Sure that wasn't the Entertainment Store version from the UK? That one is by far the most limited.

That's pure madness! now why would anyone pay that much for a new release.
... besides those currently on offer are likely to be from the bad batch that Entertainment Store promised to replace.

If people really don't wanna take any chances w/ the French or German steel... there's always the Australian version for $52 (inc shipping).

The defect is the reason it sold for that price.
