I mean, obviously it's your choice and all...but this seems like a strange stance to take. You'd rather deprive yourself of a movie you want, because the movie is only available as one part of a double feature?

Especially when you're only paying for one film instead of two!

Shout!/Scream Factory are miles ahead of the major studios when it comes to cult cinema and horror films. This Halloween is going to be awesome. First, The Amityville Horror Trilogy, then the Vincent Price collection and now THIS!

This packaging is probably the most cost effective way to distribute these two films. I don't know that one title is more popular than the other (as far as I know, both were practically direct-to-video releases in the US), but placing both films on one 50 GB disc and one dual layer DVD should satisfy fans of either film for either format.

It makes sense too, they appear to be filmed back to back and were both directed by Christian Duguay

I just feel each film deserv their own realease, and is not just the Scanners films, BloodSport/TimeCop, Last Man Standing/Last Boy Scout, the Jackie Chan films both from Shout and Disney (The Shanghai films) and all the Mill Creek realeses. I personaly feel that if Shout decided to license theses titles for a reason and then turn around and say , hey , we feel they will sell better as double features, then why license titles you dont feel they are going to sell well by themselves.

I either wait untill single realeses come out, Universal did release the Jurassic Park films singles, Warner did release the Ninja Turtles Singles, Paramaunt Did release the Star Trek single and Echo Bridge releases their Double feature titles in single films also. So, ill wait, then the companies can make money off of me, but as of now, I know for sure they are loosing at least one sale, me.

The 3 stupidest reasons I have heard not to buy a blu ray from users who say they like a film
1- Its DVD only..blu ray or nothing..part of me kinda gets this, but lets face it, you get a movie on a disc...if you like it enough why should it matter. Been there done that one.
2-It has bonus features I don't like it on it (remember the Melting Man rumor that if it had the MST3K version the person would pass on it altogether)
3-Its a double feature
There comes a certain point in life where I don't know who's sanity to question, the people not buying something for the stupidest ever reasons or my own when I wind up reading comments in topics on this threat that interest me. Fact - Scanners sequels will sell better together than separately...especially when its for the price of one movie...I cant see SF doing these as singles..
How asinine to pass on something for the most retarded reasons ever...
Sorry I needed to vent on this , nothing personal

I think #1 is understandable. People want HD transfers in this day and age, and not a DVD that will just be upconverted by their BR Player.

I legitimately did not know these were actually made, especially 10 years later..I really hope Criterion puts out a release for the original. Hell, I'd think it'd be cool if Criterion released The Fly in some sort of special edition.

There was also SCANNER COP and SCANNER COP 2 that followed these first two sequels. None of these DTV films were very good, but I'm in for this double just because SF is putting it out.

But how do you know for sure, if Shout Factory are going to release these movies individually? If Scanners II and III were released by any other major studio, then it may be a possibility. I wouldn't hold my breath! Scanners II and III were B movies, ( and so was Scanner), and I don't think, the picture quality on this upcoming blu-ray, is going to make that much of a difference anyway. And besides, it'll be cheaper to get the combo pack because, if you were to purchase these movies separately, you'll be paying more. With this release, you'll get two movies, for the price of one.

I am watching my copy. I love scream factory but they didn't do much with this release. No extras at all and no menu you just click on which movie you want to watch and that is all. The PQ and AQ are pretty decent though so its worth it based on that.

Has anyone purchased Arrow's standalone BDs for the sequels and can say what extras are on it? I just might go for those.

EDIT: Holy Hannah - just checked the price on Amazon and they want $22! No WAY I'm paying that for a barebones release. I was expecting it to be around $12. Will wait for a (big) price drop.

No extras. All of the reviews of Arrow's II and III have been pretty negative about the transfers, so I'm approaching the Scream disc (and the movies themselves!) with some trepidation.
