And y'all had better get it right*, or Bruce Lee's ghost will nunchuk your asses right into the bargain bin.
*Unless Fortune Star have given you a bunch of upscaled masters, in which case you're ****ed before you've even got out of the starting gate. Sorry. |

Not trying to sound ungrateful, seriously -- some incredibly wonderful things coming out of Shout! Factory, and you do the best with what you can get -- but, having reviewed the Bruce Lee Double Feature DVDs you guys are putting out at the end of the month (for DVDTalk), I sincerely hope "more time" includes "time to include the original audio" because all English dubs is a bummer.

FYI, While the English version of ETD did not have the "restored" scenes, the original Hong Kong release (in Mandarin) did. In 1974 (I think) I saw ETD at the Sing Lee theater in L.A.s Chinatown. I was blown away to see this footage for the first time. My sifu (whom I saw it with) did some research and told me that WB thought that non-Asian audiences would not get the meaning behind it. I don't mind the extended version but it does move along more smoothly in it's original English version.
Two things I don't understand about the DVD/Blu-Ray versions are why they did not use Lee's voice (instead of John Little's) as it was available and why did they remove the sound of Bolo being hit in his fight with Roper. In the original version the Camera cuts to Han watching the fight and we hear the strike but don't see it, leaving the final blow that kills him to our imagination. One more bit of trivia, the import DVDs of Longstreet has bonus footage of just Bruce Lee's scenes from Marlow on one disc and a episode of Ironside that Lee appears in (with a fight scene). Pretty cool! ![]() |

Will you include the original mono?...because all of the Blu ray releases elsewhere have 5.1 remixes with awful added sound effects which spoil the films completely. |

![]() ![]() But I guess even if the disc had both language tracks, some of the more short-attention-spanned people would probably only see "Chinese" listed predominantly and put it back. Ugh. Oh well, bring on the proper blu-rays... and PLEASE with proper mono tracks (well, 2.0 stereo for Game of Death, the only one that was meant to have a Dolby 2-channel stereo track, as present on Fox's "Master Collection" DVD). |
