What upsets me is they are determined to reboot Batman in the JL film. Which means we won't get a proper stand alone Batman film for maybe another 5-10 years. And if JL fails then god only knows where the character will end up. I'm ready for a new take on the character, but honestly I wish WB would just write Nolan a blank check and bring him back for a fourth. Still irks me Nolan tried to wrap up a continuing character story in 3 films, and tie everything in a neat bow leaving us out to dry until WB gets their crap together with JL or whatever in the heck they are trying to do. I respect and understand his desire to do so, but as a fan I have gotten used to having a good quality batman film every 3-4 years. I'm really worried for the character and what WB may do to him to compete with Marvel and the Avengers.

I'm glad you guys are all so positive - and I'd really like to join you. But I thought the last Superman reboot sucked and now ... a leatherette suit and cape? Maybe the next Batman should wear a black tutu - since he's so light on his feet and all. I've read Superman comics and watched him on TV & in the movies stretching all the way back to the first episodes in the 1930's, and in every single instance he's had a cloth cape & suit - super cloth, yes, but still ... and that goes for Superboy, Supergirl, Superwoman, Superdog and even the Bizaro Supermen. The pictures they've released don't make me hopeful because, well, you don't tug on Superman's cape - or turn it into some weird dominatrix outfit.

Isnt the Trilogy and the Dark Knight animated movie enough right now?
The movies themselves are 2+ hours long.

I really dont want Batman to become an every three year thing like James Bond.
Even Bond doesnt have a multiple comics, cartoons, and video games.
It needs to rest and then return after the comics develop some new angles.

Unless they let random directors take on The Killing Joke, Classic stories, etc, without any continuity and have multiple stand alone films.

just watched this for the first time on BD. The aspect ratio switching really annoyed me. The IMAX sequences looked great but the rest was very mediocre to my eyes. Why didn't they just shoot the whole thing in IMAX? Surely it wouldn't have put them over budget.

Been covered, dude. Yes, it would have been (way?) more expensive and not all shots work well with the current level of IMAX technology. For one thing, the humongous cameras are very noisy, ruling out some motion shots and virtually all quiet scenes - unless you want everything dubbed. But, like all tech, the IMAX cameras are slowly getting smaller and smaller ...

I don't get why people complain about the aspect ratio switching. It isn't and shouldn't be annoying at all. I barely notice it when I'm watching movies done with like this because I'm so caught up in the movie. Complaining about it just seems petty to me.

I thought it was extremely distracting too, on both Dark Knight movies in which it is used. It becomes a hilarious game of "why was this shot filmed with the IMAX camera?" Especially in TDKR where I believe there are even shots of Selena's apartment that use the IMAX ratio.

As far as gimmicks go I'll take 3D over randomly filming a third of a movie with a different camera to sell more expensive tickets.

I agree. I can deal with the lengthy IMAX segments, but the random IMAX shots are freakin' irritating, and I don't think making half your movie look like dogshit in comparison to the 15/70 footage is very wise in the first place.

I disagree. The switch itself isn't annoying...the quality difference is.

Yeah and some people can't handle any criticism of the thing they love.

Those people are called Christopher Nolan fans.

Yeah, I've got no problem with the shift in aspect ratio. But the 35mm footage in TDKR and TDK look pretty bad considering that they're new films.

I hear Nolan talk about how he prefers film over digital because film is higher quality, but the Blu-ray releases of his films don't exactly show that. And yet the 35mm scenes in TDK, Inception and TDKR all look so murky while digitally-shot films like The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Skyfall look gorgeous and comparable to the IMAX scenes in his Batman films.

Nolanites!? Haters, aren't they so cute ... Anyway, I had more problems with other "aspects" of TDKR than the aspect switches, which I never really noticed. Besides, I thought it had already been established that it was only an issue on large (and perhaps fixed aspect) displays.

True and some people complain just to complain because they are not happy unless they complain.

Yep - me too. I liked the AR changes. I didnt care for the multitude of lame things in this film. It felt so slapped together and under-developed. Bane was awful. Catwoman was useless. That Marion CollardGreenTard chick was also useless. Ugh.

What the hell is it with the third film in a three film series? Why are they almost always the worst when they should be the best Heck, even the much-maligned Star Wars prequels got the third film the most "right" of the three.

The reason why the 35mm scenes don't look as good as other new movies is that they come from an IP and not the negative (Digital Intermediate). You should think about it as it were a catalog title not a 2012 movie.

Nolan shoots his movies thinking about film print projections, not digital formats....
