Looks like Steve Queerlaham is no longer the sole-owner of the greatest monitor every made!

Congrats on the F160s, TF!

Do you think they would compare well to the Special 25's?

That's a good question the Mani 2 retail at $5500 Mahogany and the Special 25 retailed at $5200 back in 2002, the special 25 has an 8 inch driver going down to 35hz at -3db the Mani2 has 2 driver 6.7inches magnet to magnet going down to 29hz at -3db in room and the bass is cleand all the way down.

Now this is low as hell coming from a monitor, now the sound I cannot tell since I have not heard either.

That's all I know from both speakers.

according to stereophile the S25 had audible output down to 25hz.

That is why i specified in room for the Mani 2 and I am sure they can dig as low as 25hz. Audible could still mean -10db Steve, 35hz is the rated frequency response, very impressive if you ask me.

Is this a war of low frequency extension?

With the low-frequency reinforcement offered by the room's sidewalls in these speaker positions, this relatively small speaker can deliver almost full extension down to 20Hz. As I said, I actually had to move the speakers farther out into the room to optimize the balance of midbass to upper bass.

What ever those 2 Monitor can be considered full range speakers Evn your 160 and my Forest crazy bass extension.

I've been looking at the same Mani2's you have Olivier. They're a great deal. I just thought the S25's and Mani2 would be a good match up against each other, it would be quite a battle between the two.

I'd like a new set of surrounds that could be used as fronts if I so desired, the S1.4's, S25's and Mani2's are the front runners at this point. I have no idea which one I would choose though so I've done nothing about it yet.

No both monitors can put out respectable bass. From my understanding the S25s use an evidence level woofer and an esotar2 tweeter. However the sound is balanced more towards the sapphires.

I think this is quite impressive for Monitor speakers, not many mpnitor can extend this low, I know very well this aint a war, I am teasing you, i think those are truly imprssive numbers considering theri size.
