Question Glue on Steelbook

I don't know if any of you guys had experience something like this or not.

So, I just got my From Dusk Till Dawn steelbook. But the back card material seems different from the usual back card, which made from thin paper instead of card board. When I try to remove the back card, the glue from the card lingers on the back of my steelbook, and it spreads quite a lot. I don't have any idea how to clean them.

Do you guys have any solutions?

Same happened to my copy. GOO GONE didn't work. Had to remove the back plate and use dishsoap + lots of elbow grease to get it all off. It still shows a tiny bit at the right angle.

Just be lucky the glue on yours didn't harden and scratch your steelbook as you peeled it off. Recently happened to my Sin City steelbook that I got brand new off of ebay

Dishsoap? Does it make the image/colour on the plate wear off or something like that? How about gasoline? I used to use gasoline on the plastic cover of my old DVD to remove the glue from the price tag. It works all the time, actually, without show any marks. But, in this case, obviously we're talking about steel. So, do you guys think it'll work?

Problem solved. I've used baby oil to make everything shiny again. I feel so relieved now.

Good to hear! It's weird, isn't it? I thought at first that I got a used copy repackaged as new when I saw that glue.It looked like someone used an elementary school gluestick to attach the back info sheet. When I got a replacement from Amazon.ca it was the same thing!

I used nail polish remover and cotton wool on the T2 steelbook I received with loads of glue and sticker residue on it. Didn't remove any paint and made it look like new. Then used a little water and a hair dryer to make it completely dry. Can't even tell anything was there now.

Use cooking oil and rub down carefully the glue with your finger(not the fingernail).

I've used the same technique for almost 20 years and it has NEVER failed me.

What you do is repeatedly lightly tap the glue patch with a sticker or a piece of cellotape. The glue will always attach itself to the most tactile surface, and seeing as stickers and cellotape by their very nature are more sticky than plastic, card or metal, the glue sticks to the sticker and cellotape.

Remember just lightly tap the glue. If the glue actually comes off the sticker/cellotape and joins with the glue on the steelbook, don't panic. Just get a fresh bit of tape and start tapping again. The glue will stick to it.

Oh and what ever you do DON'T WET IT. The glue needs to be as dry as possible.
