Default Digibook vs Steelbook

If both options are available for a similar price, which option do you generally prefer?

The result will be obvious since you've posted it in the Steelbook section

Assuming they're the same artwork, digibook wins. All day.

I use to buy a lot of steelbooks but they don't really come with any memorabilia and thats what i like most about Digi books. They remind me of the cool program books one would to get when going to the movies in the 70's and 80's and I love the idea of a book Blu ray case...just looks great to me.

For me it depends on the tone of the movie. The two most recent I can think of would be The hobbit and Les Mis. Both were available in either packaging but I felt Les Mis was more suited for the digibook and The hobbit was more suited for steelbook (mainly to match the rest of the LoTR steels).

Digibook.

However nice Steelbooks are...in all reality they are still only a tin with little other value other than superior packaging. The Digibook however when done right (and most are) gives you so much more in the form of information.

Digibook has always been at the top of the food chain.

Yeah, that no matter who/when/where, digibooks will always trump steelbooks...as witnessed by the 23-14 margin, despite not having home-thread advantage.

I'm just glad we have both! I always look forward to alternate forms of packaging.

Wow I didn't expect it to be so one-sided I think there are many more votes to come though.

Actually about an hour or so ago the results were in favour of Steelbook by a similar ratio

Steelbooks are really gaudy compared to Digibooks. The Digibook is like it's more classy older brother.

Metal cases are always my last choice. They are prone to damage (dents, scuffing, rusting, etc.) and are temperature sensitive. They will pop when it gets too hot or too cold.
