Thumbs down Atlantic Rim (trailer)

This gem of a film is brought to you by our favorite low budget blockbuster studio Asylum. This a new low even for them.

You know, the CG doesn't look THAT bad though surprisingly. Yes of course this obviously a bad movie and i never want to see it and their ripping off of current movies is appalling, i still think the CGI isn't as bad as it should be...

I'm doing the double feature, though I think I'll prefer Pacific Rim due to living in California.

I'm not trolling, but that trailer's action sequences looked more entertaining than anything shown in the Pacific Rim trailers. Pacific Rim hasn't really wowed me at all to be honest, though Del Toro hasn't let me down yet, so I'm still seeing it

They....don't even have the faintest CLUE what the title refers to, do they?

Oh, they have been: "American Battleship" became "American Warships", and "Age of the Hobbits" became "Clash of the Empires" when it turned out the H-word was copyrighted by a certain British author's estate and didn't refer to Philippine cavemen.

Problem is, lawsuits only argue over a title, and titles can be changed. Unless someone hits them with a civil suit, like OJ got on his second trial, there's nothing that can physically or financially oblivion the studio, unless some studio finally gets nasty enough to TRY and find a loophole to wipe them off the face of the earth.
(And besides, they're already running scared and doing projects with public-domain sources in the title, like three or four Hansel & Gretel films...)

How desperate do you have to be as an actor to take this gig? "Look at us! We have zero self respect!"

Also, they know the statue of liberty isn't made out of stone right?

They've been sued though, for their Battleship rip off, because that wasn't a parody, it was a straight rip.

Surprised there wasn't a "Man of Iron" from them this year where they could rip off both Iron Man and Superman with only one movie.

they were sued for the TITLE, not the film itself

Work is work. It's not like Tom Cruise decided to schedule an Asylum movie in between working with Steven Spielberg and Ridley Scott. The actors who headline Asylum movies aren't exactly in their prime anymore. Next up is the After Earth ripoff starring Adrian Paul and Richard Greico.

It was the title and plot points that Universal pushed against, but the agreement came to the title to be changed.

They've only been shut down on their American Warships which was originally Battleships and Clash of the Empires, originally Age of the Hobbits!

But, this was hilarious.

It's a little sad that the effects in here are more impressive than they are in the new Riddick trailer.
