Well, you can get a heck of a set of headphones for $500, but honestly I think it may be overkill if you only intend to use them for movies. Most of the really high end headphones are made to shine when paired with high quality music sources/dacs/amps.
I own a pair of Sennheiser HD555 which retail for around $150. I can tell you they are great for movies, because they can simulate a pretty wide wide soundstage with their open design. I set my receiver to silent cinema mode and it sounds pretty good. The only knock on the 555's is they are a little weak on bass. If your looking for something that will really give you good sound do a search for companies like AKG, Beyerdynamic and ofcourse Sennheiser. These ones are pretty well my dream set... http://www.akg.com/personal/cproduct...nguage,EN.html Make sure you pair them with other high quality components to really make them shine. |
