It happens all the time. Releasing Matthew Thomas from his LOI would not set a precedent. That ship sailed many years ago.

It like the kid who's mom ran off with his letter, he didn't just sign with a school just to make his mom happy, he made his choice and stuck with it. The Collins kid that chose Bama over LSU his mom embarrassed him on national TV, she was pissed but he still made his choice. So no excuse saying my mom made me sign, come up with something better then that, I bet a lot of kids can use that excuse.

Quarterback Wes Lunt's transfer list just got shorter.

Oklahoma State is restricting Lunt from transferring to either Southeastern Conference schools or Southern Miss, where Lunt's former offensive coordinator Todd Monken is now the head coach.

Cowboys spokesman Gavin Lang confirmed the news via email after CBSSports.com spoke with a source with direct knowledge of Lunt's transfer process. When asked why the SEC and Southern Miss were restricted, Lang said that decision is between Lunt and coach Mike Gundy.

Lunt was reportedly considering SEC schools Tennessee and Vanderbilt along with Southern Miss, Louisville and Illinois. One college coach tracking the Lunt situation heard about the restriction from Lunt's high school coach, Derek Leonard out of Rochester (Ill.) High School.

The only SEC team Oklahoma State has on its immediate schedule is Mississippi State in 2013. Oklahoma State and Southern Mississippi are not currently scheduled to play.

Lunt competed in Oklahoma State spring ball with Clint Chelf and J.W. Walsh for the starting position before deciding to transfer. Chelf appears to have the inside track on the starting job.

Lunt completed 81 of 131 passes for 1,108 yards and six touchdowns with seven interceptions as a true freshman last season.

I know all about this its way different. FSU didn't sign this kid and then immediately get hit with NCAA Fractions, he saying my mom made me sign. So I would be pissed too if they didn't mention they might be getting banned from bowl games. I honestly don't know if they told him or not but if they did, I would have made him stay. The point I'm trying to make is, if he had a more legitimate excuse I would have no problem with FSU letting him go. To me it just sounds like he had a change of heart after he signed.

There is NO precedent upon letting a kid out of his LOI. It's been done for many years now.

That quote is a joke and so is the article. If a coach can bail out on his word and signature I don't want to hear people saying a kid shouldn't be able to change his mind on which school he wants to attend and no, there isn't a difference between the two.

Not if he wants to coach.... but a player doesn't have to sign anything until they are actually enrolled, but for some reason, every year, thousands of them lock themselves to a school with the LOI.

NSD is a burden on these kids and they feel obligated to have a decision AND to make it public knowledge on that day.

I agree but I think the friends and family are more of a burden.
