The UK steel is better because it has embossing and all.
Is a little bit flimsy though, just like the mission impossible ghost protocol steel, but other than that it's a nice steelbook and everyone complaining should go...

Some of the Universal horizontal steels that were embossed were notorious for feeling cheap and victims of the popping. As well as some others like Cowboys and Aliens etc. Just happens, it doesn't bother me too much, I do prefer steels that feel really good quality though, obviously. Really not a deal breaker. That picture of the dented steel in the bin is amazing

So if a steelbook has embossing its worth more money?

Still nothing for me. An order I placed from Canada on Sunday has even beaten it. Huge bummer.

SteelBook worth is normally dependent on how rare the item is, like part of a 500 item run or something like that.

Embossing to me makes the steel stand out more and seems to make it more special. The Django's that are embossed may not be worth more than the Target one for example (same except for embossing) but they def. look better

The Future Shop one does look good however. It has a glossier finish with a different design. Doesn't necessarily make it worth more though.

I prefer all my steelbooks to be embossed. It makes even the 'worst' artwork better and makes great artwork stand out even more

The white Warner Bros steelbooks I wish had that done to them, but oh well

it depends on the artwork as to wherther embossing shoudl be used.

The Iron Man 2 Play.com steel shouldnt have the embossed frame like the first Iron Man steel has. It looks gawdy IMO, but make IM1 look even nicer.

I actually love the embossing on both the Iron Man steelbooks. I kind know what you mean, but I think titles etc. usually are ripe for having embossed treatments whilst some artwork like Django etc. can have multiple parts embossed and/or debossed.

I LOVE it on the first, but 2 doesnt look right IMO.
Kinda like how it doesnt really add anything to CA either yet Thor does look nicer with the embossed frame

my copy arrived here in MN today! wasnt expecting it so soon since it barely shipped out on Monday! US version is nowhere as pretty however it feels like a brick compared to the much lighter, flimsy UK set. Very flimsy, as others have mentioned. Free UV code for my UK peeps:

Cool

Just watched this movie for the first time.

I enjoyed the movie, but there are a few things that I didn't like. I will point everything out below.

A) Historically incorrect
[Show spoiler]Current Americans are the European settlers of back then. Germans are Europeans too. Europeans, including Germans, were not known for their soft feelings towards slaves. Germans used to, how do I say this as nice as possible... Uhm... feel superior towards other people. That didn't stop in the 19th century, it was just on the rise with the creation of Germany as we know it now (Germany used to be a lot of smaller states, I believe Prusia was the largest one). And this continued till the end of World War 2.

^^The above might be a little bit too serious, but I, a person who is interested in history (especially WW2), appreciate historically correct movies. There are a few exceptions though, like the WW2 classic 'The Battle of the Bulge'.

B) Rap music
This is a Western. No rap music please. Big turn off.

C) A little bit over-the-top
I know it is a Tarantino movie, and I expected a lot of violence - which I like - but some scenes were just unrealistic, like the shootout at the Big House (Candyland). I enjoyed it though .

D) Incorrect character
I am not sure, but I think the Django in this movie is based on the classic spaghetti Western 'Django' (Franco Nero). That is maybe one of the reasons Tarantino chose to use the original 'Django' theme for 'Django Unchained'. The original Django was some kind of a hero. He didn't kill innocent people. Tarantino's Django killed a lot of innocent people - or his actions lead to the dead of a lot of innocent people. This made me dislike Django - the aim does not always justify the means.

E) Scenes cut?
I am not sure about this either, but Leo's hand was suddenly bleeding. I read something about him cutting his hand (for real) while filming, but I didn't see that scene. I was looking forward to the moment he cut his hand, but I, unfortunately, missed that part.

-------
Conclusion:

Entertaining movie. Very good acting. It is a Tarantino movie, so the script was, as always, very good and entertaining. There were a few things that could have been done better as mentioned above, but this is definitely another brilliant Tarantino movie. Definitely a must watch!

Rating:
8 / 10

About being historically incorrect... spoilers for Inglorious Basterds ahead
[Show spoiler]They did shoot Hitler in the end of that one.
You know, you do say it is a Tarantino film, so this shouldn't really be news to you. I say just go with it. This is Tarantino's history universe, and from what I've read, the second of a planned trilogy of "alternate history" films. As for the hip hop, I just found it hilarious and oddly fitting. The man is known for his unorthodox musical choices after all...

Received mine yesterday. I have this and the Canadian release now and I have to say, after their last few releases and problems with quality control (paint chips on basically ALL their stock), Future Shop have pretty much lost their charm for me.

The UK releases coming out lately are top notch, and with zavvi's free shipping also the cheapest option. I might end up buying exclusively UK steels from now on.

It's when he stops either Schultz or Django from talking, he slams his hand on the table and gives a slight wince as he cuts his hand.

It's amazing acting how he finishes the scene,
[Show spoiler]when he rubs his hand on her face she looks genuinely scared

He hits a glass on the table and it breaks, that's what cuts his hand.

They didn't swap the blood, it was one scene with no cuts and the blood was real
