Something to keep in mind for an into-the-future addition to your list
![]() Will go through a 4K DI…and eventually will appear on Blu-ray. |

A question I have is, how are you handling the situation of hybrid acquisitions?...as there are some motion pictures which were finished in 4K that are characterized by both film and digital acquisition. |

![]() ![]() Your internet connection is too quick! I see a title I had wanted to add, already made it onto your list. ![]() Might I ask, do you recall who contributed Did You Hear About the Morgans to your list...as that was rather high hanging fruit. ![]() |

Thank you, we did.
![]() Memorial Day weekend is a pretty big thing for my family as both my parents (war vets) are buried in Arlington National Cemetery. L'armée, I’m not sure how you ultimately decided to handle the 4K hybrid acquisition titles on this thread, but F.Y.I. – The Tree of Life was mostly shot on film with little digital acquisition contribution. In contradistinction to something like (although in 2K) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which is another hybrid production but, unlike The Tree of Life, was mostly shot digital, with little filmic acquisition. Just throwing tToL out there for your consideration. I don’t care much one way or another. |

I do understand how you decided to only include the original Blu-rays, which were originally derived from 4K masters on your list because I agree with your reasoning it’s rather self-evident that the re-released ‘Mastered in 4K Blu-rays’ of the same titles come from 4K masters…if the original (Blu-rays) did so in the first place.
So, on that note, I think your entry for The Karate Kid is not consistent with that thinking. Meaning, instead of this link - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-K...Blu-ray/63571/ I think you should change your listing to this link - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-K.../14435/#Review I can see where the confusion with Karate Kid lies because it is one of those movies which had incorrect technical specs on imdb for months, i.e. the master format was listed as 2K instead of 4K, see…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...te#post6707790 In fact the *claim to fame* for this title is that it was the first feature motion picture at Colorworks which was scanned, and finished, in 4K, including real time 4K color grading (rather than using 2K proxies of the 4K files for color correction, which was the current norm at most post houses in general). So, in other words, The Karate Kid had a complete true 4K end-to-end workflow. Which actually brings up another point which people should not forget. IMDB is rather good for tech specs but, as noted above, it is far from gospel or infallible, in fact, for months, Oblivion (shot in 4K) was listed as having a Digital Intermediate (4K) (master format)….which has since been corrected to a 2K master format. |

Ok so if i just buy a 4K blu ray and play it on my regular LCD and regular Blu ray player. Will i notice a difference? If i dont notice a difference, technically is there a difference? Or do u need the 4K player and 70inch T.V? Cause i heard that the 4K even being played on a normal player and tv its a little different. Also 4K players make regular blus look better.
