I've seen it a lot in stores where they want the outgoing traffic to be closer to the cash registers and the incoming traffic to be at the far wall. The Circuit City near me had automatic sliding doors that were so slow I slammed right into them. At least it satisfied my curiosity about what exactly they meant by "in case of emergency, push doors open", as the two doors both swung out. I turned to push them back into place, then I thought that if they were going to have them set up like that I'd let them handle it.

Not true. You're supposed to walk on the left side of a street if there is no sidewalk. This lets you see the oncoming traffic instead of it approaching you from behind. I believe this is actually the law in most areas and you can in theory get ticketed for walking on the right side.
