Pioneer Kuro vs Elite Kuro

Lets say that the Elite PRO1150HD is the same price as the PDP5010FD. What do you do? It is basically resolution vs doubled warranty and extra features.

I own a 5010 and never even looked at the 1150. It was either the 5010, or the 110. If you have BD/HD, 1080P is the way to go for years from now. Pioneer and Panasonic are going to cut back their 768P sets to basically none soon. 1080P will be the standard. If you watch a lot of SD material and do not have a great dvd/bd/hd player, then buy the Elite, because its video processing will be a little better than the 5010, although I think the 5010 deinterlaces and processes video better than almost any dvd player I have seen, except the XA2. Other than that, there is really no reason to buy the 768P elite, unless you need that extra year warranty.

In this instance, I would buy the PDP-5010FD, and do my PS-3 justice.

LOL - Personaly - i tried like heck - but could not see a difference between the 1080P Kuro vs 768P Kuro. Furthermore - this has been confirmed by many - if you sit 6 Feet or closer (ya right) maybe you will see a slight difference (and i do mean slight). I chose the 1150 and love the TV... and you should also know i was an owner of a Sony 46XBR for 3 months (Returned after 2 exchanges due to blotchy backlighting) Yes the XBR was full 1080P... guess what? even my wife siad Wow! The pioneer looks more detailed than the Sony!!! LOL! beleive what you wish on these forumns... too many self proclaimed experts here

Being able to resolve 1080p has nothing to do with distance if you're leaving out screen size. It's a relationship that matters.

On a 32" 1080p set THX specs will put you closer than 4ft.

For a 120" screen, THX specs will put you within 12ft of the display to properly resolve 1080p.

Of course the Pioneer looks more detailed than the Sony - the Pioneer is capable of motion resolution around 90%, the Sony only 60%, so even after scaling to the native panel resolution it's still likely showing more detail.

When you state things like "confirmed by many" are you referring to some sort of test, because I'm unaware of one.
