He isnt back. He's in talks to do the next one. That's not a confirmation.

It'd be interesting to see Deakins film certain scenes using IMAX cameras this time. Even though Skyfall wasn't in IMAX, he did study how each shot could translate well during the DMR process. I wanna see how well he does using the real thing.

All reports indicate that Bond 24 is slated for a 2016 release. Doesn't anyone else find that odd? The hiatus between Quantum of Solace (2008) and Skyfall (2012) was already way too long. And here they are again talking about another 4-year interval between Bond films.

I can't help but wonder if they're planning to film Bond 24 and 25 back-to-back. I remember there were rumors of that happening shortly after Skyfall came out last year. Perhaps that's what they're trying to negotiate with Sam Mendes --- allowing him to delay Bond 24 by one year under the condition he'll film Bond 24 & 25 back-to-back.

I dunno. I guess MGM wanted to give Bond a bit of a hiatus considering the success of Skyfall, or they don't want to risk it being a bi-annual release. I highly doubt that Mendes would be back to film Bond 25, and do you have any sources that Bond 24 is coming in 2016?

The 4 year wait seems normal to me. Thats how long as in between Batman movies, same as the wait between Star Trek.

These big franchises just seem to have a ton of planning around them and huge productions, seems difficult for them to get it done in 2 year. I guess 2 is impossible, and even 3 may be pushing it, trying to get all these actors together at the same time and get all the planning, production and post work done, its a huge undertaking.

Nothing official. But a lot of news articles mention it matter-of-factly:

I know, that guy nevr looked that young and isn't aging well. shit, i'm 52 and look younger than he does, he carries a certain rugged weather-beaten look to him. Compare Craig to Moore at the same ages and they are miles apart, as it were...

I think the timing only seems odd because with maybe 3 or 4 exceptions, it's been 2 years between Bonds since Goldfinger.

4 year wait is pretty ridiculous. 3 should be the limit.

I like Nolan to direct a Bond movie, but seeing he's already busy with Interstellar, I'd say sticking with Mendes is also a good thing. I don't understand the Nolan hate.

He's a pretty heavy smoker. That could be it. Smoking definitely ages your face.

Don't forget the gap between Licence To Kill and Goldeneye. But I think the earlier films also had the advantage of having source material to pull from rather than having writers come up with completely original stories.

I believe that would be one of the 3 or 4 exceptions they were referring to. The others being the gaps between The Man with the Golden Gun and The Spy who Loved Me (3 years), The World is not Enough and Die Another Day (3 years), Die Another Day and Casino Royale (4 years), and Quantum of Solace and Skyfall (4 years).

So I guess it was actually 5 exceptions

I just hope they don't move towards the campy bond like they have done previously. It tends to go round in circles, camp, then serious, camp then serious.

Mendes confirmed for Bond 24 and likely for Bond 25
