I just had a lot of fun- for the most part I really don't have a lot of dvd's left, but I just found someone that has an apartment at the office where I work that had a big book of dvd's. He let me borrow them and I spend twenty minutes entering movies.
I had some Vudu discount credit from eBay, some CN credit from daranman, and 5 free SD credits through flixster. 30 minutes and a dozen movies later, I handed him back his dvds.

Used the flixster credits on a two comedies I wasn't tied to seeing in HD. Used CN credit to upgrade my Harry Potter 7.2 and Green Lantern to HD (I think spelling the end of my early adopter curse, everything's in HD that should be, as far as I remember).

Anyway, it was a good time. Got to find some more friends with big DVD collections.

(Vudu is showing my collection as 551 movie + 24 TV titles though that will include some duplicates).

Is this beta disc to digital still running? I got my 5 free conversions, but now when I access the Flixster program the option of disc to digital doesn't appear.

I think its still running. I downloaded the program today. I was able to scan some DVDs. Some worked, some didn't. The function is still listed as beta. Sadly though, I was not offered any free conversions, so I didn't actually make a purchase. I merely tested to see if it would accept my discs.

I usually just stream movies, so I never installed the actual Flixster program for downloading onto my PC. Just did it tonight and it offered me the 5 credits.

WHat I was thrilled to find is that there are some movies that were never even released in widescreen on DVD that I can convert to digital and finally have in WS! Fierce Creatures was the one I jumped on first, and I'm still going through my discs to see what else isn't in WS on DVD. The Paper is one, but that's not on the eligible list yet.

The only other movie I converted so far is Orgazmo. Hit some glitches trying to do others. I had one (Empire Records) that says unavailable, even though they list it as an eligible title. When I tried Sleepless in Seattle it said I can't use credits with that studio. And when I tried Soapdish, it never even recognized the disc. So I still have 3 more to use.

For whatever reason every DVD i submit comes up with the message "DVD's are only available at this time." When I try it on VUDU's disc to digital service it shows up just fine. Anyone have a solution to this problem? It seems like the software is reading might be reading it as a blu-ray.

Edit: Nevermind. It has been working today.

Edit 2: Now it's not working again. This is strange.

I got the email also but no credits. I had to try many discs and even got back an error saying it was a burnt copy of a disc from the actual back to the future trilogy set. I had to exit and restart the program several times where I finally got it to read one which was Ghost of mars and offered 7.99 to upgrade it lol... Obviously it's in its early beta stage still. if this were swimming Flixster would be wading while Vudu is doing freestyle.

I have multiple users on our household UV account. Each user is setup with their own Flixster account, but only our fifth member to use the PC app was able to get the free credits. It appears that although the Beta program is open to all, its still random as to who gets 5 free credits to try it out. everyone else still has to pay per conversion

I tried to do last night. I didn't realize it had to be dvd's. I'll stick with Vudu/CinemaNow.

On Flixster.com it offered me the chance to start doing the disc to digital (no mention of free credits) but it doesn't even show up on my Flixster app. Very frustrating!!

No but I believe you can use Vudu promotional credits (like the ones you can find on some Walmart DVDs/blus) towards it.

My copy of The Thing (1982) worked. None of my Underworld or Resident Evil DVDs would work with the beta credits that last time I tried. I'm hoping that they will make them eligible at some point.
