Default Benefit for Moore, OK

OK Okies and others within driving distance here's your chance to help and have a great time in the process. I've had my tickets for a couple of weeks already but it was announced earlier this has turned into a benefit concert.

Touring with Chris Layton previously with Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble on drums and the very talented Tony Franklin on fretless bass. Saw them a year or two ago and they tore it up!

Where in OK are you? I am in Tulsa.

Terrible what happened in Moore (not once, not twice but three times now).

We live just east of Ponca City, on 10 acres in the country.

Yep, we have kids in Moore, missed their brand new house by 1/4 mile to the west and 800 feet to the north. They've only been in it for six weeks now, we haven't even seen it yet.

I drove through Ponca City a couple of days ago. Quiet out that way.

Good to see neighbors on here!

No Sh*t. Two of the biggest F-5's EVER, have touched down there.

Great thread, LMN.

Our company has a location in OK. City and one of our "American Brothers" lives in Moore and lost everything. Our Ontario locations have passed the hat for this lad, and raised some cash to help him out. He'll get it tomorrow and hopefully it helps bring some temporary normalcy into his and his family's lives.

God Bless those people and their families.

I like to hear stories like that. Glad to see people chipping in and helping out.

Had a tornado drop almost in my backyard yesterday but luckily ended up touching down about 3 miles from us. Still made us all a bit nervous. Got another round of it this afternoon.

The fastest wind speeds ever recorded.

Quote:
This tornado's remarkable wind speed (at the high extreme of the Fujita Scale's F5) led to much speculation that the scale would be modified to include an F6 category, due to the winds possibly exceeding 318 mph (512 km/h).
The 1999 tornado is forever etched in my memory. That photo of the fire hydrant and the piping sucked out of the earth will remain my most vivid remembrance of that day.

Yep, we were eating at Johnny Carino's when we got a call from family telling us tornado sirens were going off. It did some property damage in the Broken Arrow area, glad your area was spared.

Side note: Johnny Carino's is holding a promotion to help Moore tornado victims as well, with ALL proceeds going to the relief effort. $10 for 3 free appetizers. Great deal and great cause.

Great thread Lmn8tr! I would be buying but BF deejay's that night. This is why living in OK makes it great! All the Bricktown clubs donated a portion if not all of their proceeds that weekend to aid in the relief effort. Several were donation spots and hauled water, food etc, by the truck loads!

Add'l side note: let's not forget Shawnee, OK too, some neighborhoods got leveled there as well. Not from the same tornado but the day prior. Volunteered in Moore already and hoping to make it to Shawnee this weekend if I can find anywhere/anyone that can use me!

We are fine guys. However, we lost 3 really good Storm Chasers on Friday. I was an avid fan of the show and that one really hurt the scientific community.

This has turned into a mini Experience Hendrix show. Joining KWS for the benefit are Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), Robert Randolph, Keb Mo and Trampled Under Foot. This is going to be FUN!

Wow! What an incredible night. 4 hours of live performances by some of the most talented musicians I've ever seen.
