Lightbulb itunes Digital Copies

Does anyone on here actually go for itunes digital copies and avoid other digital copies? Seems like alot more people are avoiding these itune codes, since they are cheaper online to purchase, and sit forever on the pay it forward thread for trades.

I imagine anyone with an AppleTV unit would go after iTunes codes. That would be the main reason for someone to prefer iTunes over UV.

My digital collection is spread across UV and iTunes but I prefer UV because I have a VUDU app on my TV and I don't have to download and store all my movies. I'm sure there are plenty of people who prefer iTunes to UV but I would be surprised if there are a lot of people who still avoid UV completely. There are just so many movies now coming with UV/VUDU only codes.

I started out with UV/Vudu but I ran into a problem.

Regardless of what Vudu states on their website, Closed Captioning support is nearly non existant on movies on the PS3. I immediately started to get iTunes movies and went out and bought an Apple TV. Zero issues with iTunes digital copies with regards to this.

When the Hobbit came out, there was a lot of complaints about this to Vudu about the lack of CC support. I think they are going to get slapped soon by the FCC over this.

I find all the digital copies to be cumbersome.

I redeem them all (Vudu and Itunes.)

These days I don't dl the itunes one's ... I just leave them in the cloud. Sometimes they disappear and re-appear.

I don't really care about any of them because it's all stuff I have on Blu and that's how I prefer to watch it.

Due to the nature of how Apple does things, iTunes digital copies are just far too limiting. With the devices I own, I can only access them on my PC and on my iPad. And on my iPad, I'm forced to download them if I want to watch them. I can't stream them. That doesn't work out so well when much of the storage is used and the files are several gigs.

UV on the other hand isn't limiting at all. I can access UV copies on all of my devices - PC, iPad, Galaxy Note 2, PS3, Roku, and TV. And I know that I'll be able to access them on pretty much any device that I purchase next. Plus, not only can I download the movies to all of my devices (except for the TV), but I can also stream UV to all of them.

UV just provides far more flexibility and choice. For someone who is completely invested in the Apple ecosystem, iTunes digital copies are fine, but for those who aren't or for those who like to use devices from a variety of manufacturers (like myself), UV digital copies are preferable.

How do you do this? iTunes always wants to download the digital copy. And if I remove the items from my download queue, it gets added back the next time I download something. I'd use iTunes more often if I could leave everything in the cloud without having to download it.

That's a question I've searched for the answer to, and so far, I haven't come up with anything. Everything is unchecked in my iTunes settings in regards to checking for and automatically downloading purchases, but each time I enter a new digital copy into my account, it wants to download 90+ videos. I have to hit pause all and then delete each of them from the queue. It's really annoying.

I like them because of AppleTV and the ability to have them on my iPad and watch movies even if I'm not on an Internet connection.

The last two I redeemed asked me if I wanted to DL to which I just said no.

I think one of them was Silver Linings Playbook and the other was Dredd... (If I remember correctly.)

I just say no to the want to DL thing and then it shows up as a cloud based option.

I prefer iTunes DC. My ecosystem revolves around Apple products (Apple TV, Macbook Pro, iPhone and iPad). Vudu does not offer Closed Captioning. I only redeem on Vudu if the movie is only offered in UV. If it comes UV/iTunes combo, I go with iTunes.

You do know that you can redeem must codes on iTunes and then Vudu so you have the movie in two ecosystems then as a backup to the physical media.

Yeah I know. But still I only redeem them only on iTunes. I tend to use Vudu for UV titles only.

Sure they do: Does VUDU offer closed captioning?

You can even manually set the closed caption style (font, style, color, size, background color) on your Account Info page on Vudu.com.

Another question. Silly since I own quite a few iTunes movies but have never watched extras, do the iTunes extras contain everything that comes with the Blu-ray?

The extras vary and seem to usually include the featurettes and deleted scenes but not the commentaries

I used to not care about digital copies at all and even gave away/sold most of the ones I had

then I got an iPad as a Christmas present and really regret having lost out on so many digital copies

hell some of the ones I didn't give away/sell expired and I wasn't able to claim them (like Inception)

vastly prefer iTunes digital copies to ultraviolet since I find Apple's system is much easier to manage, except for the very rare digital copy that doesn't go into iCloud/stored in your purchased history but so far the only movie I've had that happen with is Take Me Home Tonight

It has a very small library that offers closed captioning. I recently redeemed Stand Up Guys, Argo, Dark Skies and The Impossibles and none of them offered closed captioning.

Cloud Atlas did offered CC.

Default itune codes

seems like its impossible to trade itune codes, there arent even any regular places online where itune movie traders go. but for music and tv they are everywhere.
