According to Criterion's FaceBook, Safety Last is already out via iTunes.

Hey people, I want your opinions on The Wages of Fear. I've been hearing a lot of great stuff about it and since its half off I'm on the fence to buy it. Thanks!

It's a good film. One of the best in the collection.

Buy it.

Minor spoils, but Ebert sums up the virtues nicely:

Thanks for your responses! One more question, between this one or Sweet Smell of Success which one you prefer? I'm interested in both but I only can buy one at the moment.

They're both excellent but for me Sweet Smell of Success is the easy winner.

Wages of Fear really takes its time getting going. That's one of its biggest strengths but if that's not your thing then it's not your thing. It's also not the kind of thing I can watch more than once a year or so.

I can pop Sweet Smell of Success in anytime though.

The Wages of Fear is a lot more exciting, in my opinion. Sweet Smell of Success is definitely a good film-noir, but there are some instances where it can drag on.

I'd say the safest choice is The Wages of Fear.

I think Wages of Fear gives you more bang for your buck (being 50 minutes longer) but Sweet Smell of Success is such a masterfully executed, semi-political noir. That's a very tough one....

If you like Hitchcock: Wages of Fear
If you like atmospheric noirs: Sweet Smell of Success

Sweet Smell Of Success! If you dont have it yet GO NOW!
Its definitely one of Criterions best releases and also has one of the best scripts ever written.

I could of sworn it was priced at $20 on Amazon yesterday. Either my mind is playing tricks on me or they bumped up the price.

From what I've seen thus far, I didn't find it quite funny, nor did I find it making much sense. I mean I guess this dysfunctional family is struggling with who and what they are, but the execution just seems a little too lazy to me.
Fair enough. I really enjoyed Another Year, which is the only of his films I've seen.

I'll admit, I do like Another Year. It's just that I wish we'd gotten more films like Naked, because I find that film close to perfect.

Well I like both but since Hitchcock is my favorite director and I loved Diabolique, I'm going with Wages. I'll buy Sweet Smell in July.

I just finished Life Is Sweet. What a drag...

I'm not sure if we're supposed to find these characters humorous or what, but they got annoying quite easily, especially that Nicola. Hell, she ruined most of the movie for me.

It's probably out of stock at Amazon and is being sold by a fulfillment company. Look at "new" listings and Amazon's 19.99 should be there.
