I haven't watched Day of.., but it'd be pretty hard to top Dawn of the Dead ('78)

Without question.....Planet Terror, blows these away (IMO).

If I had to go Romero I'd say "Dawn of the Dead" and "Diary of the Dead" (Loved Diary).

I can't imagine liking any Zombie movie better than a Romero movie or ROTLD (same writer as NOTLD). But everyone is different I suppose.

Of those listed Dawn Of The Dead, excellent film, but my all time favorite zombie movie is Zombie ( Zombi 2 )...

Exactly....to each their own. I Love the Romero library of films but "Planet Terror" blew me away. Plus, I met Rose McGowan last year and after a fairly lengthy discussion she signed a pic for me. She asked me a variety of questions leading to the message she wrote...she was very cool.

haha thats awesome! I LOVE meeting actors at conventions! I met Don Calfa who played Ernie in Return of the living dead... he was AWESOME! Told me a story and was very nice. haha I got a pic with him and he signed a photo 4 me. Ernie is my favorite character in Return of the living dead.

My goodness, what a sad, sad little poll. So little choices.

My name says it all. While I don't by any means own every zombie movie imaginable (nor care for), I have an affection for many.

Among my favorites are Romero's original. I also love Diary. Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things is among my cheesey favs. Dead Snow is awesome.

And f*** those who don't consider Boyle's 28 movies to be "zombie" flicks. I do, and I love them, too.

This is one reason I don't care for modern zombie movies -- they are truly ripoffs of Night of the Living Dead. That movie was unique.

Without explanation, in one night the world seems to be in the grip of a totally unexplained phenomenon. They are relentless. They are mindless. The world as you know it has ended.

Ever since, it's just retreads of the same idea -- lets make them run faster, or lets try to explain the "disease" that made them that way. But it's such a unique idea, it makes no sense to keep doing it over and over again.

I do like Val Lewton's I Walked with a Zombie -- before Night of the Living Dead, "zombie" meant the voodoo kind.

Not knocking your choices, just wishing there were more. But you did good, kid, you did real good.

My personal favorite is Planet Terror.

But since we're only voting on three George A Romero films and the one spin-off, I voted on Dawn of the Dead. I didn't like it that much at first, but on the second viewing, I found it pretty consistently entertaining. Lots of gnarly make-up effects. I like the look and style of it. Interesting social themes at work. And it is pretty amusing to watch the zombies wandering around the mall.

I wound up liking the remake too. So there.

You seem to have a bit of an insurrection on your hands OP. Why restrict the list? For sheer horror, suspense, and atmosphere my favorite would be 28 Days Later. And yes, I know the zombie-police will come a-howling!
