You are willing to CENSOR a movie (I hate euphemisms like "editing" or "sanitizing", when you just want something to be altered to comply with your morals), just so you can share it with "younger viewers"?

If you don't want those younger viewers to be exposed to the movie's "language, sex and nudity" (which I find VERY mild), that's your moral pregorrative, of course, and I have no business there and, consequently, nothing to say.

You can wait until you consider them ready (although I do find it quite odd that you seem to consider them mature enough to be scared to death by a screen slasher killing people in gruesome ways, but not to enjoy onscreen sex).

But the notion of purging the elements that you object to, so it conforms to your morals and thus you can show the movie in censored form now to someone else is completely unacceptable.

You just show them the movie or not, but leave the movie itself alone.

I respect your view on this, but when it aired on tv, it was already edited. What's wrong with me wanting something that was already done? The version that the TV Censors felt was appropriate, was good enough for me. They also edited out the graphic violence and left it as a very suspenseful thriller that was WAY more appropriate for younger teens. Much like a PG-13 version.

Why does a film have to have graphic violence, sex and profanity to make it scary? It doesn't. Anyways, I respect your view, but I just personally prefer the TV edited version. I would never try to force my view on others, I KNOW I'm in the minority on this, but it's ok....I can still HOPE for the TV version to be released.

I'll get this if there are significant differences in content and quality. I bought the first blu for $3.97 (actually I bought 2 copies at that price...) so I'm not concerned about spending too much money on double dips (quadruple dips of you count vhs and DVD).

I don't know if people saw on the bluray.com page but it says 1 movie 2 cuts, so I guess we will get the TV version!

That's just a fan listing someone put up. Most of those have no basis in reality.

I'll buy it hoping for the tv edit included too. Sort of the way they did it on DVD -- The r-rated print with the tv scenes in it.

I tend to upgrade my movies unless there is nothing at all that was improved or it was made worse - The Die Hard Legacy set for example at Walmart (I just kept my 25th anniversary set instead).

I don't mind upgrading once in awhile because my collection is fairly small compared to others to begin with. I just save my money for the things I really want now instead of buying a bunch of movies I won't use - tons of blind buys, etc. So upgrading once in awhile doesn't bother me.

Sometimes I do blind buy but it's not often. I blind bought Cold Prey 2 and actually wasn't disappointed. There was no way to rent it first. I did buy the Hitchcock Essentials set because I wanted Psycho - the other 3 movies in it besides The Birds I haven't seen yet.

More than likely, it will be the R rated version with the TV scenes included. They already edited that cut together, I'm assuming there would be VERY few people who would actually WANT the edited TV version. Plus, that version was in FULL-SCREEN and I doubt they would release this in full screen OR edit a wide-screen exactly like the TV network edited the Full-screen.

So, you may just get your wish.

Im hoping for the new transfer, from the re-release, with the TV Cut also included. That alone, imo, would be worth the double dip. Of course this is my single favorite film of all time, so I will anyway.

But the more features the merrier. I hope Shout can get a hold of this one day though. Whenever Anchor Bay stops caring about it, like they have with 3/4 of their catalog.

Oh I see.
Too bad the cover art is probably real.
Hopefully this is 2 discs as well.

It still may be, just don't go by unofficial listings on this site. People can basically add any listing they want.

Am I fool for also hoping it's multiple discs?

I would love the absolute definitive Blu-Ray of Halloween, then I remember...

We're talking about Anchor Bay.

I would probably get this is if it contains the same materials found in the limited edition (the OOP DVD with both the regular and TV versions of the movie)
The cover art is up for this already ?

Being a huge Halloween fan this is going to be interesting to see if they include the tv version and what extras will be included. I have the original Blu ray release which I think looks great PQ wise so I dont know how much better they can make it. A double dip for me? I dont know. I will have to wait and see whats included. I will be keeping my eye out for it though.

Well, just look at Michael Douglas, head can get you dead!

Being Anchor Bay, will this have a menu?

Not to burst bubbles, but the quote attributed to Carpenter about commentary has been removed. Is that because he wasn't supposed to say? Or because that's not really Carpenter!? Don't know, just know that it's gone!

Fresh restoration, R-rated version with TV footage added back in (at least as an option), Cundy colors, and the original mono soundtrack in lossless. Then I'm in.
