I would just buy a 3 Disc BD Case and add my two DVD discs to it.
Beats paying almost 100 bucks online.

Same here. I can't imagine there will be anything to make me double-dip, but I'm interested...

I hope it will be as good in pq. Never had the knowledge of this gem of film before the prices went ridiculous.

Hey guys,

I posted a question on VCI's facebook about the original Mono sound and got this reply.

Hello,

I was writing you about your up coming "The Bird With the Crystal Plumage" blu-ray.

It would make me and many other people very happy if you release the blu-ray with the original Mono soundtrack (English) in DTS-HD MA format. 5.1 remixes for old movies like this sound fake and are not really any good. If you must release it with a 5.1 track, then please also have a Mono track for us fans of the original mix.

The one thing I did not like about Blue Underground's release of The Bird With the Crystal Plumage on blu-ray was it had no Mono mix.

I will be willing to double dip and get your release of the film only if it has a Mono mix included.

Thanks,
David.

Hi David, we've heard the comments about “fake” 5.1 on older titles, which never had 5.1 mixes, and we tend to agree. So we have been releasing most of our older titles over the last couple of years, with only the original mono tracks, or at least as a separate option. Our new Blu-ray of ‘Bird’ will definitely feature the original mono mix track as the default, we may include the 5.1 re-mix as an option. We have yet to release anything with the DTS encoding, but we should probably look into it. How important is that to everyone nowadays?

If the mono is included, I'll probably double dip. As long as it's not some fake mono made from the surround remix

Depending on how the actual transfer looks (BU's is better than Arrow's), I might pick up this new release just for the mono audio, which I was very pissed at BU for not including. They even gave a lame-ass response like, "If people want the mono mix, they can hear it on DVD," basically extending a big middle finger to those of us who wanted it.

Last time I saw this was way back in 1970 at The Drive-in with my parent's. Kept looking around for a decent deal on the BU release, but gave up. Guess this will have to do .... and looking forward to revisiting.

Is there really any reason to upgrade at all if you have the BU edition?? I keep wondering if I need this or not. It has everything that the BU has except the mono track right? I honestly don't care if I'm missing the mono track so is there any other reason I should double dip?

If you have the Blue Underground disc then it's not really needed to double dip.

But I'm going to double dip because I'm a stickler for original sound mixes and want this movie with the Mono mix.
