It's not about strength or power, it's about superiority, above and beyond not just humankind but even the metaphysical Christian God.

In fact, for someone who is familiar with Nietzche, calling him "Superman" could be seen as an insult of sorts, considering his intents behind being a superhero. There's a reason why the original story from Siegel using the name "Superman" was titled "The Reign of the Superman" and had the title character as a villain. The term "ubermensch" was also used by the Nazis to describe their vision of the "ideal" Aryan race.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing a take on the story where Luthor is the one who gives him the nickname as a snide commentary on how he thinks the "invading" alien sees himself. It would be cool if the name that stuck for Kal-El was a prickly insult from an antagonist.
Well I've got news for you. First of all, I don't sugarcoat anything, I keep it real! Superman is based from a comic book, and that's his character, and identity, which is Superman. You can refer to him whatever you want ( in your own fantasy world) but Clark Kent has always been known as Superman since the beginning, and he'll always be known as Superman, a man who flies around, in a costume with a cape, on a mission to save the world. Simple as that! Nevermind about your other theoretical nonsense.

Colbert did a pretty funny segment about Supe's underpants (or lack thereoff) last night, underlying the more revealing outfit pointing downward to his "Fortress of Solitude" (I loled).

Wether people took it seriously or with a wink, Warner being the Advertising *****s that they currently are on MoS (and I seriously didn't think it was possible to get worse than Disney with IM3), I'm sure they're pretty happy about it either way

As of this writing, Man of Steel & Insidious Chapter 2 are the most anticipated movies I must see right now.

Very exciting trailer!

My only complaint so far about Superman is that his hair is always looking perfect no matter if he is flying at supersonic speed or in action battles. Maybe he has super power to control his perfect hair style. Maybe he is using the most powerful hair styling gel just for him. LOL!!

So far in the DC comic movies, there is not one of them that I really like. But this latest Superman movie may change my mind about DC comic movies. For me, Marvel comic movies are still at the top. The first Iron Man is still my favorite comic book movie so far.

This latest Superman looks quite good and not to mention one of my favorite actor is Russell Crowe. Russell Crowe is the most believable actor I have ever seen. He has a strong presence on the screen.

One thing I appreciated about Superman Returns was that you really felt the speed with which Superman was achieving during flight through both the flapping of his cape and his hair blowing.

+1. I'm glad there are a few of us out there that prefer Begins.

People, the Dark Knight is about Batman. Batman Begins was the cause. The Dark Knight was the effect. Everything about Knight is about Batman, even if he shares time with Joker and Dent.

I swear, I thought Gordon's words at the end of Begins and his voice over at the end of Knight hit the nail on the head too much.
