Beyond that, one of the best suggestions I've heard (and haven't been able to implement yet) is if you don't wrap opened Steelbooks in covers, simply line your Blu-ray shelf(ves) with some kind of microfiber cloth so that when you slide the Steelbooks off or on the shelf, the bottom edges don't scrape.

Sounds like a good idea and thanks for the reply. I was looking on youtube and I noticed a lot of collections were polybagged so I don't know if these folks double plastic their steelies or just leave the originals on.
