If I had to choose only one made for tv movie to get the Scream treatment, it would have to be The Midnight Hour (1985). Not sure who has the rights these days or if it's even possible, but I think this one would sell decently for Shout. There aren't too many made for tv horror movies that rival this movie in my opinion even though it is pretty kid friendly. The out of print Anchor Bay dvd is currently going for $200 on Amazon.

The sequels are fun, the 3rd is my favorite. It one that I can watch on loop all day and still be entertained. I remember grabbing the Canadian vhs when I was little, seeing Jason's mask and Freddy's glove on the cover. Thinking it was somehow related. The ending of the 1st film scarred me for life. lol.
They were released over here as Nightmare Vacation originally.and i always loved the artwork to part 2.its a cheat but still awesome.

I just got the Shipping Notice Email from SF that my blind buy of Ninja 3 The Domination is on the way....
Im looking forward to watching it...I will keep my fingers crossed that it is so bad its good such as It Conquered the World and hope it isnt so bad it makes Manos the Hands of Fate look like Citizen Cane. I hope its better than Manos, Mesa of Lost Women and Lisa and the Devil....
I keep thinking it will remind of House aka Hausu in terms of you cant really classify it...
I ordered it because of the overwhelming popularity of it...

I like that cover too. Seeing Roy from Friday 5, Angela, and an old witch really stands out.

I really want the 1st two movies in this series. I'd even settle for buying the 3rd if I had to to get a trilogy or part 2.

They might come out but they probably won't be from Scream Factory. They were already turned down. I asked before about these.

Hi Cliff,
I know these are not Scream Factory material..and you've said no deal in the past...but please consider these for Shout Factory. I know you guys have a deal with MGM for a while so perhaps you guys can consider these down the road..or in the next few years...

Down Twisted
Dangerously Close
Enemy Territory
The Soldier
Grace Quigley.

All of these are great films that need to be put out properly. I love the concept of putting films out in the 4 packs as budget releases..but I feel that these films deserve at least widescreen upgrades. Perhaps they can get a double feature treatment kind of like what you guys are doing for X-ray and Schizoid. I know those two had never been widescreen and you guys decided to do the treatment. If that set sells decently...would your company consider remastering other titles for widescreen release for the double feature route?

oh, and Halloween - 35th Anniversary Edition was officially announced from the Halloween Movies FB page.
I don't know how that wasn't brought up yesterday lol. The fans on here usually freak out.

Bird with the Crystal Plumage - VCI

[Show spoiler]
I'm not going to get the VCI release (since I've already got both Blu-Rays that Blue Underground and Arrow put out) but I welcome it being released, especially if it's closer to the BU transfer than the Arrow transfer (and seeing as how they stated in the announcement that they're using the original aspect ratio, I think it'll likely be the case).

Halloween is one of my all-time favorites, not to mention the first Blu-Ray I ever purchased. I'll certainly grab the rerelease.

The 'some' qualifier makes it sound like an interview, you either record a commentary or you don't. Also, you wouldn't say 'I still look good' if you were talking about an audio commentary.
Besides,
[Show spoiler]he's only in the film for roughly fifteen minutes and has no real spoken dialog - I seriously doubt he could talk about the film for 90 minutes!
That's what I was thinking. It would be like if Alice Cooper did a commentary for Wayne's World. Outside of the cameo, I don't see what he could talk about (although there is that Carrot Top commentary for The Rules Of Attraction...).

Saw Carpenter's Village of the Damned today. It wasn't that bad... Some recognize it as the beginning of the end for Carpenter but I think that it still had that spark that his earlier work has. If I didn't know that, I would have thought that it was just sort of mediocre. His stuff doesn't get bad for me, officially, until Escape from L.A., which is a shame because N.Y. is my favorite Carpenter movie and one of my favorite movies of all time. It also has some genuinely creepy scenes in it as well. In other words, I'd buy it if Scream released it. Universal's bare bones DVD, not worth $5. Honestly, who'd have thunk Carpenter would have been behind one of the best remakes ever and one of the most forgettable?

Here's a question: If you could create a "dream" box set with three films by the same director, what would it be? No genre, company, or any other restrictions.

Examples:
Basket Case 2 / Brain Damage / Frankenhooker
The Thing / Escape from New York / Big Trouble in Little China
Beetlejuice / Edward Scissorhands / Ed Wood
Evil Dead II / Darkman / Army of Darkness
Gremlins / The Howling / The 'burbs

I can tell from your photo. Sorry but another qualifier. I want creativity, not franchises. Choose your favorite 1 or 2 from a franchise and then pick and choose from the rest.

Ex:
Day of the Dead / Creepshow / Martin

Aww too bad about Lord of Illusions. I was hoping that since you didn't say no to it in the previous couple of posts that Scream did have it but just couldn't announce it yet.

Oh well....still can't wait to see what else you do have.

Sorry, misread " your dream set " and " no restrictions ".

Then I would go with..
Night of the Living Dead/ The Crazies/ Martin
Halloween/ The Fog / The Thing
Shivers/ The Brood/ Scanners
or
Dangerously Close/ Radioactive Dreams/ Down Twisted
The Serpent and the Rainbow/ Shocker/ The People Under the Stairs

Night Tide/The Queen of Blood/The Killing Kind

Or, in an even more alternate universe:

The Black Cat/Detour/The Man from Planet X

They just don't perform and that's why you see very few of them released.
Well, might also have something to do with the fact that most of them sank into Public Domain, and came out from cheapjack companies--
AND the fact that there are very few "classic" vintage 70's-80's sci-horror TV-movies pop-culture can name by title outside of Trilogy of Terror and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

(I wouldn't mind seeing a Wes Craven TV-Movie trilogy on DVD with Chiller and Invitation to Hell, but realistically, it's only the geek-name that would sell it, as nobody's ever likely heard of them in their lives.)

THAT much, I'll believe, which's why I'm in the 1% not crying "Where's Psycho IV?"
Still, seeing a few favorites get their own sub-label on DVD might create a niche curiosity. Always wanted to see some of those 70's Lois Duncan adaptations like "Stranger in Our House", but you have to approach them on the Kolchak level of 70's-TV horror.

This times a million. From what I hear, the problem is Richard Rubenstein seems to think that Dawn of the Dead is Citizen Kane, and wants the equivalent of the national debt in order to "lend" it to a proper distributer (such as Scream). Unfortunatly for me, Dawn of the Dead is the Citizen Kane of horror films.

Lizzie Borden took an axe.....

I know Cliff has said no to TV movies, but I would love to see The Legend of Lizzie Borden starring Elizabeth Montgomery. I'm not sure who owns the rights. Anyone know?

PSYCHO IV was filmed in 1990. Not 1970, not 1980. It was shot on film, not videotape. It's already been released on DVD and was enhanced for 16:9 TVs in what appeared to be a newish looking transfer when it came out. It's probably not going to take a lot of work to release it in HD. Universal may even have a HD master already sitting on the shelf, because I've seen people on other boards talk about seeing it broadcast on Universal's HD channel in the past. If that's the case, then it's not as if PSYCHO IV is some 1950s Kinescope recording that's going to require a lot of work to make it to Blu-Ray. It was also shot for Showtime, not network TV, and had quality talent behind the camera making it (Joseph Stefano wrote the original PSYCHO for Hitchcock and authored the script; Mick Garris directed it and helmed plenty of Stephen King adaptations).

If Shout is smart (and they are , given BATES MOTEL's big success on A&E, I'd go ahead with the PSYCHO II/III combo pack...wait and see how it sells...then do a PSYCHO IV release with the busted BATES MOTEL TV pilot with Bud Cort as a bonus feature sometime next year. That way they'd get two possible sellers out of the franchise instead of one!
