Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces are both five-star masterpieces, and they look amazing on the Criterion Blu-rays. The extras are fun to go through as well.

The King of Marvin Gardens is not quite in the same league as Easy Rider and Five Easy Pieces, but it is almost as good, and there's quite a lot to enjoy.

You also see Jack Nicholson for a split second in the first film, Head.

You also get to see one of Jack Nicholson's directorial debut, the 1971 film, Drive, He Said. It's a solid film in its own right.
Thank you very much The Great Owl! I guess I will go ahead and place the order!

Just started collecting criterions this month, although i have been collecting blu's for about 3 years now. So far I've picked up Hunger, Antichrist, The Darjeeling Limited, and Cronos. I also just ordered from the Best Buy sale: Videodrome, High and Low, The Thin Red Line, Amarcord, and Seven Samurai. Any thoughts on my purchases or what to add to my collection in the future?

Awesome choices....I love Parkway Drive....

I always recommend Gilliam titles...so Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Brazil...are great.

A few others I'd recommend would be The Blob, The Killing, Night of the Hunter, and Kiss me Deadly....happy hunting!

Never been a fan of Videodrome but it has alot of fans and I hope you enjoy it! The Thin Red Line, excellent choice! From my limited collection I recommend The Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket, Naked, Shallow Grave and On The Waterfront.

I thought Videodrome was interesting; I've always been a fan of odd horror movies. I love Anderson's works, although I found Bottle Rocket to be my least favorite of his films, I still plan to eventually buy it. Thanks for the advice!!

Probably buying 2-3 more tomorrow and I'll be done.

Anyone seen Charade and is it worth a blind buy? What about Kagemusha?

That probably makes it the best reviewed film of the last ten years too.
Actually there are quite a few film rated higher.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/top/

I love the film though, it's Fincher's second or third best IMO (after Zodiac and maybe Se7en)

Oh My!!!!!!!

I just finished watching the first two Pierre Etaix short movies...I am in adoration. Dr. Svet wasn't overselling it when he placed him in the vicinity of Chaplin, Keaton, Tati, etc. The two films were moving without being saccharine; they were funny and energetic without being overbearing. The films felt so alive, the chaos never seemed staged, it felt as if the action extended to past the frame we were seeing: an anarchic, whimsical world (im getting too hyperbolic)....I already feel like I got my money's worth.

What's the preferred aspect ratio for On the Waterfront? Never seen it before.

Remember that clip of Louie you sent me? The Rapture is very similar, if not more extreme in its antics.

I was actually thinking about getting the killing because I love Kubrick but I wanted to check it out on Hulu first; it isn't there thanks though!!

That sounds fantastic. I didn't expect this to become such an anticipated release for me, but thanks to everything I read about it on this site I have very high hopes for it. I should be getting it in a couple days and will surely start watching it right away.

Criterion.com's second Flash Sale of the year (after February) is usually in September or October, yes?

This is such an exciting reaction. I can't wait for my set next week.

I have, and it is probably my least favorite of the Kurosawa's I have seen, but it still worth seeing and if you are a fan it is worth getting.

Found A Woman Under The Influence for free on Hulu. It's not a part of the 101 films of summer. Anyone know how long it might be available? I really would like to watch it, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it.

Nice. I am also looking for a woman under the influence who is free.
