Completely untrue, it's actually quite the contrary. O'Brien has been quite vocal about the fact that the film was ahead of its time and how the cast managed to do such a great job. As far as I know, the only issues he has with the film are related to his performance and the fact that he felt it had a lot to live up to.
"I found it difficult acting in Shock Treatment. I felt I didn’t know what my character was and I also found it was awfully difficult acting in those glasses because I didn’t realise how important the eyes are until I did that. I felt that I was acting quite heavily and quite strongly and quite positively but when I watched a couple of rushes I could see that it wasn’t enough and I still think that I actually underplay a little too much in Shock Treatment. I’m not totally happy with my performance. I think it could have afforded to be a little broader."

According to the trailer, I can guess that it is mainly a comedy with some horror elements. Is that correct?
Yep, it's a comedy with horror elements.

Uh, you are way off.

The only bad thing he has ever said about Shocky, and its not even "bad", is that too many people compared it to Rocky. It works better when you think of the characters of Brad and Janet in a new situation, in stead of them in "another Rocky Horror situation".

No film can ever live up to the cult status of Rocky Horror Show.

But Shock Treatment is still a classic, and it needs to be owned in gorgeous HD!

I posted a thread about it in the "Wish Lists" section a little while ago, but what about The First Power? I think MGM owns it. It's a highly underrated supernatural thriller that would fit pretty well into the Scream Factory lineup. Not to mention the DVD is OOP.

Also, with multiple companies having deals with Sony, including Mill Creek and Twilight Time, is it that unlikely that we will see some type of Shout-Sony releases in the future?

Maybe some films like Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Next Generation or Candyman, assuming no one else grabs them first.

I think the odds are pretty high, especially now, considering that Shout has made a big name for themselves with the Scream Factory brand, and Sony should know that its a seller.

It helps that Sony is finally allowing other companies to produce Special Features of their films.
I think the odds are certainly in Shout's favor.

As far as I know, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: TNG is with Warners....so it's not going to happen.

It's going to annoy me that I'll have Day of the Dead on Blu-ray, but not Night or Dawn. I'm still crossing my fingers they'll release a really good Blu-ray for Night, and a Blu-ray for Dawn that matches that Ultimate Edition I have on DVD.

No, its a Columbia title. Its owned by Sony.
They've released 3 different Region 1 DVDs.

Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III is the only of the original franchise that Warner has, via New Line Cinema.

So, providing a Sony deal, which was the basis of my post, it would be possible, hypothetically.

In this case, I am very glad to be wrong. It is one of my favorite sequels.

From what I understand, Sony distributed a Canadian and US DVD in the early 2000s. It went Out of Print and a few years later they released an American DVD with new artwork. That same year Lionsgate released the exact same disc in Canada. Thus there being 4 different DVDs available in the Region 1 market, 3 being from Sony.

So, apparently Lionsgate owns Canadian distribution rights?
I'm pretty sure Sony retains them in the US though.

Vudu has Sony Pictures listed as the studio and so does Flixster.

Yeah. Especially considering the last known distributor of a physical copy was Sony. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the next generation may not be hopeless, at least Sony is interested in licensing out their films, which can not be said about Lionsgate.

It might come from Mill Creek (I hope so, if its anything like When a Stranger Calls / Happy Birthday to Me it would have good quality and be cheap, despite being bare bones)

It might come from Twilight Time (I hope not, too expensive and they generally do not make many special features, if any at all, and would be limited)

or maybe, if the stars align, Scream Factory!!

What do you think that it would be paired with? Candyman?

If Candyman does get a US release (from anyone!) I hope it's the uncut version. I have the UK BD and for some unknown reason it's been edited. The annoying thing is I got rid of my old W/S VHS copy ages ago and that was completely uncut!

If it were paired with anything at all I don't know...

I was just alluding to the fact that When a Stranger Calls and Happy Birthday to Me looked amazing to be "budget blu's".

I would hate that specific pairing because I don't like 2 different franchise being paired together. It messes with the abc/franchise flow of my movie shelves.

Ideally I would like a single release for everything, especially if it is tied to a larger franchise, but I can handle a double feature with one franchise and one non-franchise, I guess, but I would rather a pairing of two similarly themed, yet non-franchise films. Like TerrorVision / The Video Dead or X-Ray / Schizoid...

... the everyday problems of a movie fan lol.

I agree.

Sony has Candyman
Lionsgate has Candyman III

...but MGM has Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh, and although Cliff shot it down for the first MGM deal, it doesn't mean it wont be coming in the next one, I hope they can get it. I would love an American release of it to hold me off until someone (hopefully not, but most likely Twilight Time) can release the original. And then maybe one day Lionsgate will do something with part 3.

I may have mentioned this already but there was a FB confirmation that The Horror Show aka House III would be a (non-CE) Blu-Ray + DVD Combo.

Here's it's nice theatrical posters, hopefully we see a reversible cover with the alt title art:

[Show spoiler]

I'd love to see them do a double sided slip, like they're doing with Dark Angel.
