Default hey guys, getting serious tracing effect on my xbr5 during blu-ray movies, pls help.

first off thanks for clicking. here is my problem. i use my ps3 for blu-ray movies. when i play a blu-ray movie and only a blu ray movies i get serious tracing on all moving artifacts no matter if motion enhancer is on or off. i am using a 1.2b hdmi cable but al is being sent through my denon 7.1 AVR2308 so that my sound can come through uncompressed. has anyone ever encountered this and if so what can it be? i notice that it happens alot during 24p playback, which i have set to auto on my ps3.

tks guys.

You should be using 1.3a HDMI cables.

yeah, does the problem still exist when connected directly to the TV instead of through the Receiver?

i will attemp a direct connect but the only way i can get lossless audio is if i go through the reciever. i am going turn OFF the 24p setting, i heard that may have something to do with it.

the XBR5 is 1080p/24Hz compatible...so that may not be the problem. Or maybe youre just not use to 24fps?

you seriously should calibrate your TV. Settings right out of the box or not usually ideal.

I think i have this problem to, i always see moving white lines on the black bars when im waching a movie. you cant notice it until you go up real close to the tv, buts it there. infact im waching a movie right now and i can see it durring these movie previews, you know that green screen that comes up and tells you the following previews blah blah blah. its worse on that screen, but for some reson when i turn on rgb it goes away. you guys think its the receiver? i never seen that before i got it.

no, thats not whats happening here. mine a trace on all moving artifacts...however i put it on auto auto 2 and turned oOFF 24p mode on my ps3 and it pretty much fixed it. i shouldnt have to do this though i dontn think. i will look into getting it calibrated. Or is there anyone here thatnhas had it calibrated and knows the settings?

I have an XBR5 & love it(even though its on its way out), but its no contest between my other TV's. Its just the way LCD is & its not going to get to the level of Plazzy's ever.

i have the xbr as well and the problem is all in the settings...mostly. the xbr comes with the default "vivid" setting. this is BAD!!!! I find setting to preset "cenema" works best for me but there is still some ghosting with the mid brown colors but it's greatly reduced. it's really bad playing COD4.

why dont u run the hdmi directly to the tv, run optical to surround, and turn off the 120 hz enhancer... amd that should help some. hdmi has trouble doing full dts, and 1080p video all together at the same time. that, or get a higher bandwidth hdmi

actually, i have a 40" sammy LCD and it cant hold a candle to the XBR.

anyway, got a new set of cables..the 1.3 hadmi and it fixed it. like the previous poster said i needed more bandwidth for the 1080p pic and uncompressed sound.

also chuck, this isnt a pissing contest.
