There is a Sony 5100 I think that says region free, 3d, has wifi, about $300 Is the Oppo only region free after you do something to it? I'm usually not to keen on "updating" or altering technology in some questionable way. If there is a trustworthy method, I'm interested, just hate the idea of messing up something of high value Also, did you write a review of the Oppo on amazon? Someone there was mentioning an expensive Denon DVD player
